Chandigarh, 21 September: The Naval Wing of the NCC at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, organised a debate and slogan-writing competition under the Nai Roshni Scheme, an initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting women’s empowerment.
The competitions, centred on the theme ‘Nari Shakti’, provided the cadets with a platform to deliberate on the challenges faced by women and explore possible measures to strengthen their participation and empowerment. During the debate, the cadets presented their perspectives on the role of women in society, highlighting the importance of equal opportunities, education, awareness and social support. The cadets also discussed various government schemes and initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering women, thereby enhancing their awareness of the institutional mechanisms available for women’s welfare and development. Through their slogans, the participants creatively conveyed messages of equality, dignity, confidence and empowerment.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and said that empowering women is essential for building an inclusive and progressive society. She encouraged the students to become informed and responsible ambassadors of women’s rights and empowerment.
