Jalandhar, 18.07.26-; Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Founder Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Jalandhar and described the inauguration of the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station as a significant milestone in India's infrastructure journey. He said the transformation of the historic station echoes a larger national vision of creating public infrastructure that is modern, accessible and rooted in the country's heritage, while enhancing civic amenities and connectivity across Punjab.

Dr. Mittal said the redevelopment of the Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station holds a special place in his heart. "My parents came to Jalandhar Cantonment after Partition in 1947 with the hope of rebuilding their lives. I was born here and have spent my life watching this station serve generations of families, including my own. Seeing this familiar landmark transformed into a symbol of a confident, modern India fills me with immense pride. It feels like witnessing the journey of both my city and my country."

Dr. Mittal said initiatives such as the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme represent a new chapter in India's development story, where infrastructure is no longer built merely to meet present day needs but to shape the aspirations of future generations. "For decades, countries across the world set the benchmarks for public infrastructure. Today, India is creating benchmarks of its own through quality, scale and a development model that combines technological advancement with cultural identity. I believe that, in the years ahead, the world will increasingly look towards India's infrastructure model as an example of inclusive, future ready and culturally rooted development," he said.

Dr. Mittal said the Prime Minister's visit represents more than the inauguration of development projects. It reiterates the Centre's commitment to strengthening Punjab through sustained investment in infrastructure, connectivity and economic development. He expressed confidence that initiatives such as the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme will enhance the state's competitiveness, generate new opportunities for businesses and youth, and improve the quality of life for citizens. "A strong Punjab is integral to a strong India. With visionary planning and consistent execution, I firmly believe Punjab will play a pivotal role in the journey towards Viksit Bharat," he said.
