Chandigarh, 18 July 2026: Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh, today inaugurated the Sheela Kapoor Astronomy Club in a grand ceremony.
The Astronomy Club has been established by the family of Late Mrs. Sheela Kapoor, a founding member of Ankur School and former President of the Student Aid Society, in her cherished memory. The project has been fully funded by her husband, Prof. T. N. Kapoor, former Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, as a tribute to his late wife.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Sharad Kapoor, who attended along with his family members. Distinguished guests included Mr. Sandeep Vig, President of Ankur School, Colonel Rupinder Mall, and Mr. Vikram Hans, whose presence added to the significance of the occasion.
Principal Mrs. Aruna Dhiman highlighted that the Sheela Kapoor Astronomy Club marks a significant step towards promoting experiential learning in science. She said the club would encourage students to explore the wonders of the universe through practical observation and interactive activities, helping them develop curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry. By introducing students to astronomy and strengthening STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, the initiative aims to inspire young minds to pursue innovation and excellence in science and technology.The newly established Senior Computer Science Laboratory will further strengthen students’ digital skills, coding abilities, and understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
