Chandigarh, July 14:- The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, today chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officers of Chandigarh Administration and MC Chandigarh to assess preparations for the proposed VVIP visit and directed all departments to complete pending works on priority. He reviewed road repairs, sanitation, horticulture, street lighting, drainage, water supply, sewerage, parks, green belts and other civic infrastructure, stressing that every location must be clean, safe and visitor-ready.
The Commissioner emphasized seamless coordination among departments, regular field inspections and swift resolution of all issues. He also reviewed waste management arrangements with Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs), directing strict compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules through source segregation and scientific disposal of waste.
The Commissioner further instructed officials to remove encroachments and unauthorized garbage dumps, ensure uninterrupted public utilities, and enhance the appearance of roads, roundabouts and public spaces. Senior officers from Engineering, Horticulture, Public Health, Sanitation, Fire & Rescue Services, Electrical, Architecture, Mechanical, Enforcement, Public Relations and other departments attended the meeting.
The Commissioner reaffirmed that every department must work with dedication to ensure Chandigarh presents its best civic standards during the proposed VVIP visit.
