Chandigarh, September 16, 2025: To mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Department of Botany at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Eco-Club ‘Parivesh’ and under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised an Inter-College Poster Making Competition. The event was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration.

The competition aimed to focus global attention on the importance of phasing out ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and to engage students in creative expression for spreading awareness about sustainability and climate initiatives. A total of 22 participants from various colleges across the tricity, including PGGC-46, PGGC-11, GGDSD-32, GCCBA-50, DAV-10, and MCM DAV College for Women, presented thought-provoking posters depicting concerns and solutions related to ozone layer depletion.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the efforts of the organising committees and congratulated the participants for using their artistic talent to highlight pressing environmental concerns. She urged both staff and students to cultivate a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between ozone protection and climate action.
