SHIMLA -4 June, 2026-Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj called on Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan today.

During the meeting they discussed several issues of mutual interest concerning Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand including strengthening road connectivity in border areas to improve transportation and make travel easier for residents and visitors.

The Governor said that both the Himalayan States have vast tourism potential and there is a need for better infrastructure to improve access to religious, cultural and eco-tourism destinations. He said that improved road networks would not only boost tourism but also support economic growth, enhance connectivity for local communities and encourage greater interaction between people of the two states.

They also held a discussion over the rich cultural heritage shared by Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, along with opportunities for closer cooperation in tourism, culture and infrastructure development.

Governor also appreciated the efforts of the Uttarakhand Government to promote sustainable tourism and regional development. They expressed confidence that stronger cooperation between the neighbouring states would contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of the Himalayan region.
