CHANDIGARH,05.09.23-The journey started from IMF headquarters in Delhi where the team was flagged off by the president of Indian Mountaineering Foundation Ms Harshwanti Bhist on 9/8/23.

Thereafter the team travelled to Manali and then to Jispa and reached Bharatpur on Manali Leh Highway on 12/03/2023. The base camp was lodged at Bharatpur at the height of 14500 feet.

Thereafter the team did load ferrying upto summit camp at 17000 feet.
After spending one night at Summit camp the team started for summit attempt on 14/08/2023 late evening.

The team had two members from SBI namely Navdeep Sood aged 56 and Shakti aged 40 Both working in Local Head Office of SBI in Chandigarh. Other non-sB members included Dr Naresh(Delhi), Ms Shivani(Uttarakhand ),Mr Jagbir(Haryana )and Mr Partap(MP).

The peak was scaled on 15th August 2023 and a 76 foot long tricolour was hoisted at the summit by the team.

Mt Yunam is situated in Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh and is considered to be a challenging peak due to its steep ascent. This was the second attempt of some of the summiteers as they had to come back from 100 meters below the peak in June 2022 when bad weather prevented them from going forward.

Mr Shakti and Navdeep also hoisted SBI a Chandigarh Circle flag on the summit as a token of gratitude for their employer for encouraging them to attempt such expeditions.

The team plans to scale Mt Bhagirathi II in September 2023.
