CHANDIGARH,10.08.23-The word “Van Mahotsav” refers to “tree-plantation ceremony”, which is celebrated every year, in the month of July-August, to inculcate among the general public the need for growing trees and nurturing them.

In this series, the Department of Forests & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh organized a Plantation Programme at Colony No. 4, Industrial Area, Phase-I (Adjoining Amrut Van) on 9th August, 2023, wherein Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest.

On this occasion the Chief Guest planted ‘Mango (Mangifera indica)’ sapling and 550 no. saplings of different species were also planted by Secretary Forests and the department officers and frontline staff of Forest Department, UT Chandigarh.

The function was attended by Sh.Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Secretary Forests, Sh.T.C.Nautiyal, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Sh.Arulrajan P., IFS, Conservator of Forests and other officers of Chandigarh Administration and officials of Forest Department, UT Chandigarh.
