Chandigarh, 22.09.23-In order to make Chandigarh Carbon Neutral by 2030, administration brought EV policy formally launched on 20th September, 2022, where provisions to incentivise the public who adopt electric vehicles by avoiding ICE vehicles. To achieve clean, green, smart city and carbon neutral city chandigarh has taken multiple efforts and one among them is emission free energy production and efficient energy consumption. To ensure and promote EV mobility in the city on all Vehicle categories such as E-Bicycles, E-2W, E-Cars, E-Autos, E-Goods Carriers, E-4W (Personal and Commercial) etc. administration offers subsidies to the consumers for faster adoption.

Chandigarh Model Solar City has achieved 57.5 MW till date to energise the requirement of the need of the city through solar with a long-term plan to make UT Chandigarh 100% Renewable Energy Powered by 2030.

To commemorate the World EV Day (Sep 9) and Zero Emissions day (Sep 9), another green energy initiative has been taken by CREST by organizing a three-day exhibition starting from 22nd Sep 2023 to 24th Sep 2023 as a part of awareness program to bring changes in the minds of the citizen of the tri-city.

Renewable Energy & Electric Vehicle Expo known as REEVE-2023 was formally inaugurated by Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary Transport, UT Chandigarh on 22nd Sep 2023 and emphasised the importance of the green and clean initiatives of the administration especially the role of CREST in making ocean change both physical and behavioural changes among the people in presence of Sh. T.C Nautiyal, IFS, Secretary (Science & Tech.& RE) & Sh. Arulrajan P., IFS, Director, S&T&RE –cum- CEO, CREST, UT Chandigarh.

Renewable Energy & Electric Vehicle Expo known as REEVE-2023 has 33 no. of exhibitors (Manufacturing Company, Dealers & Funding Agencies etc) and (60 number of stalls) participated around different part of the country displayed modern Electric vehicles (e-Bicycles, e-2W, e-4W, e-Goods Carriers, e-4W Goods Carriers, e-Trucks and e-Buses) and several products related to Renewable Energy products such as Solar Power Plants, Solar Garden Lights, Heat Pumps, Solar Traffic Lights, Solar Street Lights, Mobile Solar Mass Lights etc.

Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Secretary Transport appreciated the efforts made by CREST in promoting EV and renewable energy by such awareness programs in developing Chandigarh as a Model EV City and Model Solar City. He further applauded the effort of CREST, Chandigarh in their continuous endeavour in promoting Electric vehicles and solar energy to make Chandigarh, Carbon Neutral by 2030.

The function was also attended by Sh. Navneet Kumar Srivastava, IFS, Additional Director, S&T&RE and Sh. Sukhwinder Singh Abrol, Project Director, CREST, Chandigarh.
