CHANDIGARH,08.08.21-After a gap of six months Kendra again gear up for live events with limited audience . Kendra today organized its 5th Gurmat Sangeet baithak at the M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium here today with selective live audience. Programe was also telecasted live on social media platforms of Kendra like YouTube and face book from the stage. The programe featured eminent Vocalist Dr. Alankar Singh who is presently is the Chairman of Gurmat Sangeet Department , Punjabi University Patiala. He presented melodic Shabad Kirtan according to the ancient maryada of Gurmat Sangeet.

Only very limited and special audience was present in this program as limited audience was invited under the rules of COVID 19 Rules like entry with mask , proper social distancing and sanitization were followed especially during the programme . Sh. Harjit Singh Sabharwal , Managing Trustee, Tera hi Tera Mission graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Sh. Sajal Koser, Secretary of the Kendra was also present on the occasion. Many other great personalities from the field of Gurmat Sangeet graced the occasion .

The program was conducted by Mr. Malkit Singh Jandiala , Head of the Department of Gurmat Sangeet , Pracheen Kala Kendra.

Today’s artist Sh. Alankar Singh is the first and only recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Gurbani Kirtan, Dr. Alankar Singh presently is the Chairman , Gurmat Sangeet Department , Punjabi University, Patiala. He received training in Classical (Vocal) Music and Gurmat Sangeet under Guru Shishya Parampara continuously for about eleven years from Gurmat Sangeet Acharya Late Professor Tara Singh, a renowned musicologist and composer, who belonged to Gawalior Gharana of Khayal Gayaki. For the last twenty one years, he has been learning from Pt. Ganesh Prasad Sharma of Ambala Cant. (disciple of Pt. Bhola Nath Bhatt of Allahabad and Ustad Wajid Hussain Khan Saheb of Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana), a well known Guru of classical music.

Besides being an expert in Notation, Music Composer and Music Arranger, Dr. Alankar Singh is an approved artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan for Classical Music, Shabad Gayan, Bhajan & Geet. He is an empanelled artist of SPIC MACAY for Raag based Gurmat Sangeet. He performs extensively in the major festivals of music in India. His musical & academic international trips to New Zealand have earned him a lot of respect & fame. He is often invited as Resource Person to various seminars, conferences & workshops on music. He has to his credit eight audio CDs, one audio cassette, three books & twelve research papers

Gurmat Sangeet Baithak was begin with special Rag of Gurmat Sangeet Rag Kanhara based on shabad with bols "Har Jas Gawaho Bhagwan ", Later in the raga Malhar the shabad composed by Guru Nanak Dev ji "Baras Ghana mera mann bhina". He Also presented a melodic shabad based on Raga Jaijawanti with bols “ Ram Bhaj Ram bhaj janam siraat hai ” composed by Guru Teg Bahadur ji. This was followed by rag Malang kafi based compostion “Chetna hai to chet le”. His concluding shabad was raga Dhanashree based famous Aarti by Guru Nanak Dev ji with bols ” Kaisi aarti hoye” amdist applause. The The Fine team of accompanists were Bhai Sandeep Singh on Dilruba , Bhai Narinder Pal Singh on Jorhi and Bhai Ravinder Singh on Rabab. The artists were honored with bouquet and mementos by Secretary Sh. Sajal Koser and Sh. Malkit Singh Jandiala.
