MAHENDERGARH, 12.08.26-IKS center of Central University of Haryana (CUH) hosted an inspiring discourse by Gita Manishi and internationally renowned thinker Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj on the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Addressing the students and faculty members, Swami Gyananand Ji engaged in a direct interaction with the university community and highlighted the relevance of the Gita’s philosophy in contemporary life, the role of youth in nation-building, and the significance of the Indian Knowledge Tradition.

Welcoming Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said that the university is integrating various dimensions of the Indian Knowledge Tradition along with modern science and Artificial Intelligence into education to ensure the holistic development of students. He observed that Central University of Haryana provides an appropriate platform for meaningful dialogue on the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. He further highlighted the special association of Haryana with Lord Krishna and the Gita, noting that it was on the sacred land of Kurukshetra that Lord Krishna imparted the eternal wisdom of the Gita to Arjuna.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that integrating the life-oriented aspects of the Indian Knowledge Tradition with modern education can equip students to effectively face the challenges of the future.

In his address, Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj interacted directly with the youth and presented various life lessons from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita in a simple and practical manner. He said that the wisdom of the Gita is extremely important for today’s youth as it provides the right direction, balance and self-confidence while navigating the challenges of life.

Referring to the example of Arjuna, Swami Ji explained that Arjuna himself experienced a state of mental conflict and despondency on the battlefield of the Mahabharata. Lord Krishna guided him through the wisdom of the Gita towards duty, self-confidence and the path of action. Similarly, today’s youth face various forms of mental pressure, confusion and challenges. In such circumstances, the philosophy of the Gita can provide them with clarity of purpose and a positive outlook towards life.

Calling upon the youth to harness their energy, talent and capabilities for nation-building, Swami Ji said that they should learn to remain “Active, Alert and Aware.” He emphasized that the Indian Knowledge Tradition is not confined merely to books or academic study; rather, it offers a vision and an art of living a meaningful and purposeful life.
The programme was organized by the Centre for Indian Knowledge Tradition of the university. Director of the Centre, Prof. Anand Sharma, briefed the gathering about the Centre’s activities, objectives and initiatives for the preservation, promotion and contemporary study of the Indian Knowledge Tradition.

The programme was conducted in the Indian traditional style by Dr. Neeraj Karn Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication and Public Relations Officer, Central University of Haryana.

At the conclusion of the programme, Prof. Nand Kishore, Coordinator, Hindu Studies Programme, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, the university administration, faculty members, research scholars and students.

A large number of faculty members, research scholars and students attended the programme and benefited from the inspiring thoughts and practical insights shared by Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj.
