Haryana would pursue this resolve while playing a leading role in realising Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, he said.
Addressing the Haryana Day diamond jubilee celebrations at Kurukshetra University on Sunday, the Chief Minister welcomed the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Her presence on the sacred land of the Bhagavad Gita made the historic celebrations a moment of special pride for the people of Haryana, he said.
Haryana Governor, Professor, Ashim Kumar Ghosh also graced the ocassion.
The Chief Minister described the President’s journey from Uparbeda village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district to the country’s highest constitutional office as a powerful affirmation of the strength of Indian democracy and the dignity of the Constitution. Her journey inspired hope and confidence among the country’s daughters, poor families and tribal communities, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations.
**Kurukshetra’s Message of Duty, Courage and Public Welfare Remains Timeless**
The Chief Minister said Kurukshetra held a unique place in India’s spiritual and cultural consciousness. It was on this sacred soil that Lord Krishna delivered the message of duty, courage and public welfare to Arjuna through the Bhagavad Gita.
Recalling the President’s participation in the International Gita Mahotsav in 2022, he said she had described the Gita as a spiritual light for humanity and a source of guidance in life. Her presence in Kurukshetra once again added to the significance of the occasion.
**Haryana’s Progress Built on the Strength of Its People**
The Chief Minister said Haryana’s transformation since its formation on November 1, 1966, reflected the determination and enterprise of its people. Once regarded as a backward region, it had emerged as one of India’s leading and fastest-growing states through the sustained efforts of farmers, workers, industrialists, traders, sportspersons and women.
He said hardworking farmers, courageous soldiers, accomplished sportspersons and empowered women defined Haryana’s identity. The state’s daughters were demonstrating their talent across sectors—from farms and sports arenas to the armed forces and startups—and bringing pride to Haryana.
The Chief Minister acknowledged farmers’ contribution to the nation’s foodgrain reserves and livestock farmers’ achievements in milk production. Their efforts, he said, embodied the spirit of the popular saying, “Desan mein des Haryana, jit doodh-dahi ka khana,” celebrating Haryana’s rich tradition of milk and curd.
He also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Haryana’s soldiers in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
Highlighting the state’s sporting achievements, he said Haryana’s athletes had brought glory to India by winning 11 medals at the Commonwealth Games and 32 at the Asian Games. Each time the Tricolour rose on the international stage, it reflected the dedication and talent nurtured in Haryana, he added.
**A Strong Contribution to India’s Economy**
The Chief Minister said Haryana’s economic contribution far exceeded its geographical size. With just 1.34 per cent of the country’s geographical area, the state contributed nearly 3.6 per cent to India’s GDP and recorded the highest per capita income among major states.
Haryana manufactured two out of every three passenger cars, every second tractor and six out of every 10 motorcycles produced in India, he said. It also accounted for more than 60 per cent of the country’s basmati rice exports.
These achievements underlined Haryana’s role in strengthening the national economy through both industrial production and agricultural exports, he added.
**Pioneering Initiatives in Agriculture, Governance and Infrastructure**
The Chief Minister said Haryana had set new benchmarks through innovation and public welfare initiatives. It was the country’s first state to procure all crops at minimum support prices and had pioneered measures to free villages from Lal Dora restrictions and introduce educational qualifications for panchayat representatives.
He said India’s first hydrogen train had operated between Jind and Sonipat. Haryana had also advanced modern transport infrastructure with the construction of the country’s first elevated railway tracks in Rohtak and Kurukshetra.
**Development Anchored in Harmony, Values and Shared Heritage**
Acknowledging the vision of those who helped shape modern Haryana and the hard work of its people, the Chief Minister said the achievements of the past 60 years must now be carried forward with renewed resolve.
Haryana would work towards becoming India’s first developed state and make a leading contribution to the national goal of Viksit Bharat-2047, he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that progress must preserve the qualities that defined Haryana. Economic advancement would go hand in hand with compassion, development with brotherhood, and modernisation with respect for the state’s values and traditions.
This balance, he said, represented Haryana’s true identity and its most enduring legacy for future generations.
**Hard Work and Resolve Have Given Haryana a Distinct National Identity Despite Limited Resources: Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi**
Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi said the state’s diamond jubilee was an occasion to celebrate six decades of development, perseverance and collective achievement. Since its formation on November 1, 1966, Haryana had overcome limited resources and inadequate infrastructure to make remarkable progress in agriculture, industry, education, sports and entrepreneurship, he said.

On this historic occasion, the Governor extended his best wishes to the people of the state and expressed his gratitude to the President for gracing the event and enhancing its dignity. He also appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and his team.
*Message of the Land of Kurukshetra Remains Relevant Even Today*
Highlighting Haryana’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that it was on this sacred land that Lord Krishna had imparted the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. The message of selfless action, duty and righteousness enshrined in the Gita continues to have the power to guide human life even today. The same philosophy of action is reflected in Haryana’s social character. The farmers of the state toil tirelessly in their fields, soldiers selflessly guard the nation's borders, and sportspersons bring glory to the country through their discipline and dedication. All these represent Haryana’s vibrant tradition, which places the highest importance on action and hard work.
He said that Haryana, as an agriculture-based state, had played a significant role in India's Green Revolution. Today, the state is a leader in agriculture, industry, education, technology and sports. From the towering skyscrapers of Gurugram to the traditional wrestling arenas in villages, Haryana has demonstrated that tradition and modernity can go hand in hand.
The Governor said that as India moves forward towards becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047, Haryana must also continue to progress steadily. Compared to its per capita income in 1966, Haryana’s per capita income is estimated to reach approximately Rs. 3,95,618 in 2025-26, reflecting the state’s remarkable and inclusive progress.
*Universities Must Become Centres of Character Building Along with Knowledge*
Emphasising the role of youth and educational institutions, the Governor said that young people were the country's greatest strength. He urged the youth to pursue their dreams with dedication, embrace innovation and serve society with honesty. He said that educational institutions such as Kurukshetra University had a special responsibility. They must not only prepare skilled professionals but also nurture responsible citizens who remain connected to the country's culture and values.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that only Viksit Haryana could play a significant role in building Viksit Bharat. Just as the health and strength of every organ of the human body are essential for the well-being of the entire body, the development of every state is necessary for the overall progress of the country. The comprehensive development of all states, including Haryana, will form the foundation of Viksit Bharat.
He said that Viksit Bharat does not merely mean becoming a nation that is economically, physically, militarily or socially powerful. Viksit Bharat would be one where the benefits of development reach the last person in society. It would be a nation that understands the hopes, aspirations, difficulties and sufferings of the most disadvantaged and deprived sections of society and provides them with equal opportunities to lead a life of dignity. He also called upon everyone to take a pledge to empower daughters, protect the environment and preserve their language, heritage and traditions.
The Governor urged the people of the state to reaffirm their collective commitment to building a more vibrant and inclusive Haryana and make a significant contribution towards realising Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

*Haryana to put entire public healthcare network on digital map, patients to access hospital details with a click*
Chandigarh, November 1 - Haryana is preparing to bring its entire network of government healthcare institutions onto a single digital map, allowing citizens to access information about hospitals, primary health centres, sub-health centres and AYUSH facilities with a click, while giving policymakers a clearer picture of healthcare infrastructure and gaps in services across the state.
The initiative, developed through Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, aims to integrate information on health institutions across the Health, AYUSH, and Medical Education and Research (MER) departments into a unified platform, replacing fragmented departmental records with a more accessible and coordinated information system.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra reviewed the progress of the exercise at a meeting today, where the GIS mapping data of healthcare facilities across Haryana was presented.
The mapping exercise will make it possible to retrieve the geographical location, basic institutional information and photographs of individual health facilities through a digital interface, bringing essential information about the state's healthcare network together in one place.
During the meeting, Dr. Misra emphasised the need to consolidate Health Department data on a single platform and make information available to the public wherever feasible. The move is intended to improve transparency and accessibility while enabling government departments to make more informed decisions about strengthening healthcare services.
For citizens, a publicly accessible system could simplify the process of locating government healthcare institutions and obtaining basic information about the facilities available in their areas. For administrators, the same platform is expected to provide a comprehensive geographical overview of the healthcare network, helping identify areas where infrastructure improvement, additional investment or closer monitoring may be required.
The exercise assumes significance for a state where healthcare institutions are spread across urban centres, towns and rural areas, and coordinated infrastructure planning requires reliable, location-specific information.
By bringing these facilities onto a common digital platform, the government aims to strengthen coordination among departments responsible for delivering different forms of healthcare. A major focus of the meeting was the role of the Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC), the state's nodal agency for remote sensing and geospatial applications.
HARSAC representatives assured the Health Department that the agency would provide technical handholding for managing the GIS database and facilitate the sharing of relevant information with other departments of the Haryana government. The interdepartmental sharing of mapped data is intended to support evidence-based decisions regarding infrastructure development, the improvement of existing facilities, and administrative monitoring.
The system could help authorities assess the geographical distribution of healthcare institutions and use the available information while planning improvements in underserved areas. It could also reduce the need for departments to rely on separate databases to evaluate the location and basic infrastructure profiles of government health institutions.
The involvement of the Health, AYUSH and Medical Education and Research departments is expected to provide a more integrated view of the public healthcare system, covering institutions operating under different administrative authorities.
The initiative represents a shift towards using geospatial technology not merely for locating health facilities but also as a planning and monitoring tool for healthcare administration. Dr. Misra stressed the importance of ensuring that information available with the Health Department could be accessed through a common platform and, wherever permissible, made public.

*President Droupadi Murmu Attends Haryana’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Kurukshetra*
*Haryana Has Made Invaluable Contributions in Every Sphere, From the Freedom Struggle to Nation-Building: President*
Chandigarh, November 1 – The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, attended the Diamond Jubilee celebrations held in Kurukshetra, Haryana, on Sunday to commemorate 60 years of the state's formation. On the occasion, she also launched the Diamond Jubilee logo. Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh and Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini were also present at the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, the President said this region of Haryana had made a remarkable contribution to the development of Indian culture. It was from this sacred land that the eternal message of the Bhagavad Gita spread across the world. She paid homage to this revered land, which had brought glory to Indian civilisation, and congratulated the people of Haryana for their meaningful contributions to various dimensions of India's journey of progress.
The President said the land that had spread Lord Krishna's eternal message of selfless action across the world had also set numerous examples of human courage and achievement in the modern era. Its people had made significant contributions to the freedom struggle, social transformation, democracy, literature and science. Rao Tula Ram's indomitable courage, Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram's commitment to farmers' welfare, Pandit Neki Ram Sharma's service to the nation and Dada Lakhmi Chand's dedication to folk culture formed an invaluable part of Haryana's heritage.
She said Kanshi Ram of Ambala, counted among Haryana's earliest martyrs of the twentieth century, was one of the founders of the Ghadar Party in San Francisco, along with Lala Hardayal. Nearly a year after his return to India, he was executed by the British government in November 1915. During the Quit India Movement of 1942, people from Haryana's rural areas, along with those in its towns and cities, participated enthusiastically. Even young girls came forward fearlessly to take part in these movements.
Recalling an inspiring incident, the President said historical records documented the fearless participation of a 12-year-old girl from Rewari in the Civil Disobedience Movement of 1930. To defy the salt law, the girl purchased salt using her entire childhood savings. She had saved two paise every day over several years and devoted the entire amount to the movement. The President urged the state government to collect detailed information about this inspiring episode and bring it before society.
President Smt. Droupadi Murmu said Sucheta Kripalani, born on the soil of Haryana, created history by becoming India's first woman Chief Minister. Shanno Devi, who served as the first Speaker of the newly formed Haryana Legislative Assembly, set an example of women's pioneering role in democratic institutions. Haryana's daughter Kalpana Chawla reached the heights of space exploration and gave new wings to the dreams of countless girls.
Referring to the present state government's sensitivity and commitment towards women and disadvantaged sections, the President said initiatives such as reservation for women in the allotment of ration depots, 50 percent representation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and the constitution of a Welfare Board for transgender persons were significant examples.
She said Haryana had made notable progress in several dimensions of women's empowerment over the past decade or so. The national 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign was launched from Panipat, Haryana, in January 2015. The campaign had proved to be a highly significant initiative towards women's empowerment.
The President said a remarkable positive change was taking place in attitudes towards daughters. The sex ratio at birth, which stood at 871 girls per 1,000 boys in 2014, had increased to approximately 915 in November 2025. She expressed hope that coordinated efforts by the state and Central governments would help achieve parity in the sex ratio and further accelerate improvements in women's health and girls' education.
The President said that with appropriate encouragement, Haryana's daughters had brought glory to the country on international sporting platforms. Athletes such as Manu Bhaker, Sweety Boora and Jasmine Lamboria were among the many daughters who had made Haryana proud.
She said Haryana's sportspersons had achieved extraordinary success in India's sporting history at the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
At the ongoing World Wrestling Championships 2026 in Kazakhstan, Haryana's Manisha Bhanwala had created history by winning a gold medal, becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to achieve this distinction. The President congratulated her on this golden achievement and also appreciated all the Indian women athletes who had won medals at the championship.
She said that of the seven gold medals won by Haryana's athletes at the Commonwealth Games held earlier this year, five had been secured by women. Para-athlete Sharmila Dhanda from Rewari had demonstrated through her gold medal victory that when determination remained unwavering, physical challenges could not stand in the way of success for long.
The President said Haryana had produced talented individuals in every field. She had had the opportunity to confer Padma Awards on several distinguished personalities from the state, representing literature, folk art, social service, education, sports, para-archery and science.
She said Haryana had always been rich in talent and valour. This land of bravehearts, whose sons and daughters had made sacrifices during the freedom struggle, had also consistently made significant contributions to safeguarding the country's borders. The tradition of providing dedicated and courageous soldiers to the nation's armed forces remained strong in Haryana.
The President said Haryana was progressing rapidly towards achieving the objectives for which the state was established. Coordination with the Central government was giving a new direction to the state's development.
She said a hydrogen-powered train had recently been introduced between Jind and Sonipat, marking the launch of the country's first hydrogen-powered train. She had also learnt about significant initiatives undertaken to modernise railway infrastructure in Haryana.
Haryana had also established a distinctive position in foodgrain production, she said. The state's foodgrain productivity was approximately 50 percent higher than the national average, and it was making an important contribution to the country's food security.
The President said Haryana was reaching new milestones in inclusive development. Several deeply rooted social orthodoxies were being dismantled. She emphasised that the processes of holistic development and progressive thinking must advance together in harmony.
She said Haryana is the land that had given the message of the Bhagavad Gita to the world. Lord Shri Krishna's personality embodied an ideal synthesis of knowledge and action, strength and compassion, leadership and public welfare. She expressed hope that the inspiration drawn from his personality and teachings would provide the strength and wisdom needed to fulfil their duties to every individual and institution working for Haryana's development.
