Chandigarh, 30 August — Haryana’s Minister for Energy, Transport and Labour, Anil Vij said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "Mann Ki Baat" programme connects people living in every corner of the country, in different regions and under different circumstances. Through this programme, people in the west learn what is happening in the east, and people in the north learn what is happening in the west, so everyone can see each other’s work, draw inspiration, and move forward. He said the Prime Minister also mentioned the approaching festival month, which is very important; during this month we must adopt “Local for Vocal” and purchase goods made in the country.
Energy Minister Anil Vij was speaking to reporters on Sunday after listening to the Mann Ki Baat programme at the residence of Advocate D.S. Mathur on Hill Road, Ambala Cantt., in the presence of Panchayat Minister Mr. Krishna Lal Panwar. Earlier, upon the arrival of the two senior ministers, Advocate D.S. Mathur and his wife Sudha Mathur welcomed them and presented bouquets on behalf of the family.
Energy Minister Anil Vij said that there was a time, when Doordarshan aired the Ramayan serial, the roads would be empty and everyone would gather somewhere to watch it. Similarly, now people wait to listen to and watch the Mann Ki Baat programme held on the last Sunday of the month by the country’s popular Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister is our best friend, philosopher and guide. He guides us while keeping our interests in mind. Wherever new inventions are happening in the country, wherever new schemes are bearing fruit, wherever young people are taking up new initiatives and creating new dimensions, those things are showcased here so that we all become inspired and move forward.
Energy Minister Anil Vij also said that in the programme the country’s successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave important information while raising awareness on drug de-addiction, cleanliness, science and technology, history, and Local for Vocal. We must make the public aware to stay away from drugs, especially inspire the younger generation to avoid them. Everyone’s participation is crucial in the drug de-addiction campaign. Cleanliness brings shine to life; we must be personally conscious about cleanliness, not spread filth, and work to remove the dirt that exists, so that our country can become cleaner and more beautiful like other countries. Through the programme the Prime Minister also provided us important information about science, technology and history.
On this occasion the Energy Minister also said that Modi ji has said the festival month is coming and during this period we should take the pledge of Local for Vocal. In the upcoming festivals like Diwali and other occasions we should resolve to buy goods made in India. The day we all buy Local for Vocal — i.e., goods made in India — the country will progress. Its slogan will be Local for Vocal.
*Promote local products: ‘Local for Vocal’ will strengthen the rural economy — Krishan Lal Panwar*
While speaking to media, Panchayat and Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar that he was pleased to have the opportunity to listen to and watch the Mann Ki Baat programme in Ambala Cantt. with elder brother and Cabinet Minister Anil Vij. He said that the Prime Minister’s dream to make India developed by 2047 will require a key role from the country’s youth. The common people will also have an important contribution. The Prime Minister’s call in the programme for youth to stay away from drugs makes it our duty to inspire young people to avoid addiction.
Panchayat and Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar also said that the Prime Minister emphasized buying products made in India through the Local for Vocal initiative. Speaking about the rural region, he said that earlier many items were handcrafted by blacksmiths, goldsmiths and others, but today those crafts are disappearing. The Prime Minister, through Local for Vocal, is stressing the purchase of Indian-made products so that the initiative gains momentum. He appealed to people to buy goods made in India during Diwali and other upcoming festivals. He said that through the Panchayat department approximately 75,000 self-help groups of women are producing items, which has increased their livelihoods and promoted Local for Vocal. The state government has decided to open shared markets (sanjha bazaars) in every district; under this decision shared markets have already opened in Fatehabad and Karnal, and sites in other districts have been identified for opening such markets.
Panchayat and Development Minister also said that yesterday Mewat held a Mewat Development Board meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. Under that meeting an MOU was signed with a private company to produce electricity from waste, and under the MOU an average of 5,000 tonnes of waste per day will generate about 50 megawatts of energy. When the plants to be established in the Hisar, Ambala, Faridabad and Gurugram cluster begin operations, 5,000 tonnes of waste will be processed scientifically each day and a total of 50 megawatts of energy will be produced.
Also present on the occasion were Advocate D.S. Mathur, Mrs. Sudha Mathur, Gaurav Mathur, Vandana Mathur, deputy chairperson of the municipal council Lalta Prasad, Sanjeev Walia, B.S. Bindra, Ajay Baveja, Advocate Dalip Mittal, Jaswant Jain, Ajay Agarwal, Raman Agarwal, Anil Behal, along with other officials and dignitaries.
*Anil Vij’s jibe: "Congress worships Sajjan Singh, that’s why the poster was torn"*
On the question about a legislator putting up a poster in the assembly protesting the Sikh riots and then another Congress legislator tearing that poster, Energy Minister Anil Vij reacted that no one wants their revered figures insulted. Congress has already said that Sajjan Singh — who led the massacre of Sikhs — is their revered figure, so it did not look good for a poster of such a revered person to be in the hands of a Dalit; therefore that poster was torn.
