Chandigarh, 6 June 2026: T.S. Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh, successfully hosted the grand finale of its Painted Mask Theatre Workshop under SummerFest 2026. The workshop culminated in a captivating presentation of “Vande Mataram – A Symbolic Patriotic Play”, performed by the participating children after a week of intensive theatre training and rehearsals under the guidance of renowned theatre director and Nek Chand Awardee Mr. Subhasis Neogi.

The performance featured an innovative human pyramid formation concept, symbolically portraying the spirit of unity, strength, sacrifice, and patriotism embodied in the National Song. Through symbolic scenes and patriotic themes, the young performers conveyed messages of unity, courage, and love for the nation, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The programme was graced by Sukhminder Kaur Brar, Chairperson, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, as Chief Guest, and Abhishek Sharma, Director, Tagore Theatre, as Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sukhminder Kaur Brar praised the confidence and talent displayed by the children and emphasized the importance of theatre in nurturing creativity, discipline, teamwork, and cultural awareness among young learners. She commended the library for providing meaningful opportunities for artistic expression through SummerFest.
Mr. Abhishek Sharma congratulated the participants on their impressive performance and appreciated the dedication of the children, parents, and organizers.

Dr. Neeza Singh, Librarian and Organiser said that SummerFest 2026 provides children with opportunities to learn through creativity, play, and cultural experiences, helping them build confidence, imagination, and communication skills. She thanked the resource persons, guests, parents, and participants for making the programme a success.
