Chandigarh, 5 June 2026: T.S. Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh, celebrated World Environment Day as part of SummerFest 2026 with a special Tear & Create Art Workshop, marking the finale of Toddlers' Week. The workshop was conducted by artist and art educator Ms. Deepti Saini Gupta for children aged 3–6 years.
Keeping in line with the theme of Reuse and Recycle, young participants created colourful artworks using old newspapers and bits of waste paper. Through hands-on creative activities, children learned how discarded materials can be transformed into something useful and beautiful.
Adding to the excitement, the children were gifted handmade dolls created from waste materials, including used plastic disposable bottles, by the Puppet Theatre team.
The ongoing Painted Mask Theatre Workshop, led by theatre director and Nek Chand Awardee Mr. Subhasis Neogi, also continued with rehearsals for its grand finale. The participating children are preparing to present “Vande Mataram – A Symbolic Patriotic Play” on 6 June 2026 at the Library Auditorium.
A total of 90 children are participating in SummerFest 2026. Dr. Neeza Singh, Librarian, apprised the young participants of the importance of protecting the environment and adopting sustainable habits from an early age. She emphasized that activities based on reuse and recycling help children develop creativity while fostering responsibility towards the planet.
