Chandigarh, April 4 — Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, said that after obtaining Ph.D., UG, and PG degrees from Kurukshetra University, the youth will now move forward toward their next goals. He stated that the young generation will play a vital role in making India a developed nation by 2047 through commendable contributions in innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that the youth of the country must take the mission of building a developed nation as a national responsibility.
The Governor was addressing the 35th Convocation Ceremony of Kurukshetra University as the chief guest on Saturday at the university auditorium. Earlier, on the recommendation of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, the Governor conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws degree upon Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Along with this, 112 Ph.D. scholars were awarded degrees in various disciplines, and 89 students were honoured with gold medals and certificates for securing top positions in their respective classes. In total, around 3,000 students were awarded degrees, including Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate degrees, during the convocation.
On behalf of Kurukshetra University, Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh also honoured Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice Sheel Nagu of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Deepak Gupta, Justice Kuldeep Tiwari, Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj, and Justice Alka Sarin with Certificates of Honour.
The Governor called upon students to actively contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and nation-building. He said that a convocation ceremony is not merely the culmination of an academic journey but the beginning of new responsibilities. He added that the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, envisioned by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, is a national mission, and the real architects of this vision are the youth of the country. He encouraged students not to limit themselves to traditional jobs but to become job creators instead of job seekers.
Congratulating Justice Rajesh Bindal on being conferred the honorary Doctor of Laws degree, the Governor said that the honour recognizes his outstanding contribution to the field of law and justice. He also noted with pride that Justice Bindal is an alumnus of the same institution.
Highlighting the achievements of Kurukshetra University, the Governor said that the university has made significant progress in recent years. It has received an A grade from NAAC and has been awarded the Platinum Award by the Haryana Government for effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. He further stated that the university has made notable advancements in research, patents, new academic programmes, and modern subjects related to Industry 4.0. The university has also performed excellently at the national level in sports and cultural activities.
Addressing the students, he said that the sacred land of Kurukshetra reminds one of the message of the Bhagavad Gita—that a person should perform their duties with sincerity and honesty. He urged the youth to embrace values along with education in their lives.
