F&CC approves various development works in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, March 30:- The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, held its meeting today under the chairmanship of Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Mayor, MCC. The meeting was attended by MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, committee members Sh. Harjeet Singh, Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Sh. Jasbir Singh, Sh. Kanwarjeet Singh, Sh. Yogesh Dhingra and other senior officers of MCC.
The Committee also disused and accorded approval to the following agenda items:
• The work of providing and fixing of paver block after dismantling of existing paver block on V-5 road in Sector 20 B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.52 lakh.
• Repair and Raising of existing paver block pavement in front of Government Senior Secondary School along V-4 Road, Sector 45, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 32.29 lakh.
• The work of Strengthening, Providing & Laying of 450 mm (18”) I/D RCC Np-2 Pipes, construction of MHS and road gullies for smooth disposal of storm water near Ambedkar Colony Dhanas and near #3310 Housing Board Colony Dhanas Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.02 lakh.
• Strengthening, Providing & laying of 200 mm (8”) I/D S.W. Pipes, Construction and strengthening of machine holes for smooth disposal of sewage from #58 to #28, from #122 to #09 & from #158 to #160 village Dhanas, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 34.52 lakh.
• Dismantling, providing and re-fixing of kerb & laying cement concrete in channel on v-4 road & on V-6 road Sector 43 A & B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 25.89 lakh.
• Up-Gradation of market Sector 37-D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 47.17 lakh.
• The work of Boring & installation of 01 no. 12” x8” (304.80x203.20mm) I/D deep bore tubewell no.2 Vikas Nagar U.T., Chandigarh with percussion-cum-reverse rotary drilling Rig method or any other method of latest technology at an estimated cost of Rs. 27.42 lakh.
• Installation of additional high masts in green belt Sector 15 C&D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 21.54 lakh.
• Dismantling, providing and re-fixing of kerb & laying cement concrete in channel on V-5 road sector 34 A&B & on V-6 roads Sector 34 C& D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 40.55 lakh.
• Repair of existing pavement by laying cement concrete along boundary wall of Panjab University and re-fixing of old tile at Janta & Kumhar Colony Sector 25, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 34.87 lakh.
• Strengthening of existing sewerage system by providing and laying additional 8” i/d sewer line at cheap house sector 19-D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.60 lakh.
• Providing and Installation of fountains 03 nos. in Japanese Garden, Sector 31, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 33.29 lakh.
• Providing lights in annual garden1 C&D V5 green belt and in various location of Sector 44, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh.
• Providing street light and park lights at various locations Sector 37 & 38, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.45 lakh.

• Dismantling, providing & laying stamped concrete infront of Gurudwara Sahib of Village Khudda Ali Sher, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 47.26 lakh.
• Providing and fixing of Cat-eyes and Median market on V-4 & V-5 road for improvement of Road Safety in Sector 34, 35 & 43, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.74 lakh.
• Providing and fixing 80 mm thick paver block la near House No. 448 to 445 (Block-1) H.No. 550 to Toilet (Block -2) Shiv Mandir (Block-3) and H. No. 439 (Block -4) at Village Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.09 lakh.
• The work of uplifting and repair of paver blocks around parks in Sector 35- A& B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 49.88 lakh.
• The work of upgradation of three Nos. Raised platform in Market of Sector 34-C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 03.42 lakh.
• Repairing of 80mm interlocking paver blocks on footpath along V-4 road, Sector 41, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.55 lakh.
• Providing fencing of brabed wire on boundary wall in Community Centre at Sector 48, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.97 lakh.
• Construction of Model Vending Zone in Sector 37, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.53 lakh.

Bapu Dham gets green boost: Mayor Saurabh Joshi lays foundation for 7.5-acre green belt
Major Step Towards Better Lifestyle and Recreational Spaces for Residents
Chandigarh, March 30:- In a significant push towards enhancing urban greenery and improving quality of life, Chandigarh Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi today laid the foundation stone for the development of a new green belt in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26. The ceremony was held in the presence of Area Councillor Sh. Dalip Sharma, and residents of the colony, marking another milestone in the city’s commitment to expanding green and recreational spaces.
Spread across an area of approximately 7.5 acres, the upcoming green belt is envisioned as a vibrant and inclusive public space designed to cater to people of all age groups. The project will feature lush grass-covered areas, plantation of ornamental trees and decorative shrubs, and well-planned landscaping to create a serene and refreshing environment.
To ensure comfort and accessibility, the green belt will include modern amenities such as walking tracks, garden lighting, protective railings, and toilet blocks. Adding to its appeal, the space will also house a gazebo with seating benches, a water body, a volleyball court, an open-air gym, and dedicated children’s play equipment, making it a complete recreational hub for families and youth alike.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Saurabh Joshi emphasized that the project reflects the administration’s vision of creating healthier and greener neighborhoods. He stated that such initiatives not only beautify the city but also promote community engagement, physical well-being, and environmental sustainability.
With this initiative, Bapu Dham Colony is set to witness a transformation into a lively and eco-friendly space, further strengthening Chandigarh’s identity as a city that prioritizes green development and citizen-centric infrastructure.

MC Chandigarh crackdown on illegal vending & roadside repairs: 78 challans issued
Chandigarh, March 27:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out two major enforcement drives today morning in Sector 26 and Motor Market Manimajra, Sector 13, acting on persistent public complaints regarding illegal vending and unauthorized roadside activities.
During the drive outside the Sabzi Mandi in Sector 26, the enforcement team took strict action against unauthorized coconut sellers. A total of 9 trucks involved in illegal vending were impounded, along with 7 illegal rehri vendors operating in the area. The team also issued 16 challans for violations.
Subsequently, a second drive was conducted in Motor Market, Manimajra Sector 13, where numerous complaints had been received about mechanics carrying out vehicle repairs on road berms, causing obstruction and inconvenience to the public.
Acting decisively, the team impounded 28 vehicles, including cars, a tractor trolley, and a van. Various equipment such as jacks, oxygen cylinders, rubbing machines, seat covers, and even car doors used for illegal roadside repairs were also seized.
A total of 62 challans were issued in Manimajra, Sector 13 alone. Overall, 78 challans were issued during the day’s drives.
Both drives were conducted smoothly and peacefully, reinforcing MCC’s commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring compliance with civic regulations.
