Chandigarh, March 22:-In a decisive move to curb unauthorized street vending and ensure smooth public movement, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out a special enforcement drive across multiple parts of the city on Sunday morning.
The drive was initiated following complaints from residents regarding illegal vending in their respective areas. Acting promptly, the enforcement team began operations in Sector 41, where 16 illegal vendors were removed after persistent concerns raised by locals.
Continuing the crackdown, the team proceeded to Sector 20, where a significant number of unauthorized ice-cream rehri vendors were found operating without valid permissions. A total of 37 such vendors were removed during the operation.
Further action was taken at Naya Gaon near the barrier, where 7 illegal rehri vendors were impounded as part of the ongoing drive. The entire operation was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, with no untoward incidents reported.
In total, 60 illegal rehri vendors were removed, and their rehris impounded. Additionally, challans were issued to violators for operating without authorization.
