Chandigarh, March 25:- In a firm action against public space misuse and rising complaints from residents, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out two intensive enforcement drives today in different parts of the city, targeting illegal roadside activities and encroachments.
The first drive was conducted in Sector 48, outside the motor market, where numerous complaints had been received regarding mechanics carrying out vehicle repairs on road berms and adjoining open grounds. Acting swiftly, enforcement teams impounded 19 vehicles found parked for unauthorized repair work. Additionally, jacks, tools, and other equipment being used to encroach upon public space were seized. A total of 25 challans were issued during the operation.
In a parallel action, another drive was conducted in Manimajra, Sector 13, focusing on illegal vendors and shopkeepers who had encroached upon public corridors. The team removed encroachments and issued 22 challans to violators for obstructing pedestrian movement and misusing public areas.
Overall, 47 challans were issued during the day, reflecting the Corporation’s continued commitment to maintaining civic order and ensuring smooth public movement.
