Chandigarh, 25 March: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women scripted history by winning the prestigious Panjab University Women’s General Sports Efficiency Shield for the record 42nd time, reaffirming its unmatched legacy in the field of sports. The honour was conferred during the Annual Sports Prize Distribution Function (Session 2025–26) organised by the Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, held here today.
In a remarkable display of sporting excellence during 2025-26, the college created history by clinching 13 championships with 12097 points, surpassing all its previous records. The institution’s athletes also earned scholarships for their outstanding performances and won medals at the All India Inter-University Competitions, further highlighting the college’s strong presence at the national level. The college sportspersons secured medals in All India Inter-University Competitions in games such as Gymnastics, Shooting, Judo, Cycling, Boxing, and Fencing, showcasing their versatility and competitive edge.
The institution continues its tradition of consistently stellar performances and secured championships in a wide range of games, including Badminton, Boxing, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Mallakhamb, Weightlifting, Canoeing, Wushu, Tennis, Judo, and Football.
Expressing her delight on this remarkable achievement, the Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma said that the historic win is a testament to the relentless dedication, discipline, and perseverance of the college’s sportspersons and the unwavering support of their mentors.
