Chandigarh, 23 March: Commemorating Shaheedi Diwas with patriotic fervour, the Library of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with the Department of History and under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a Quiz competition on the theme ‘Remembering the Martyrs: Legacy of India’s Freedom Fighters’.
The event sought to pay tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar, while promoting historical awareness and intellectual engagement among students. The competition began with a preliminary round, from which four teams advanced to the final round, showcasing commendable knowledge and enthusiasm.
The occasion also marked the formal inauguration of the Library Club, IGNITE, aimed at fostering a vibrant reading culture and enhancing student engagement with library resources. An Investiture Ceremony was held wherein the newly selected office bearers were honoured with badges. Aanandita Singh was appointed as President, Alaana as Vice President, Mira Joshi as Social Media Coordinator, Aditi Roy as Content Creator (Photography), and Hiral as Content Creator (Research and Reports).
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the initiative for endeavouring to nurture a spirit of patriotism while encouraging academic curiosity and critical thinking among students. She said that such events reaffirm the institution’s commitment to holistic education and the preservation of national heritage.
