Chandigarh, March 22, 2026:The celebration of Bihar Diwas was organized with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour by the Bihar Foundation at Baba Makhan Shah Lubana Hall today. Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary , UT Chandigarh graced the occasion as the chief guest while Sh. Pushpendra Kumar, IGP Chandigarh was the guest of honour. The event commemorated the rich cultural heritage, history, and achievements of the State of Bihar.
The event witnessed the participation of members of the Bihar diaspora, students, professionals, and dignitaries residing in Chandigarh and nearby areas. The celebration aimed to strengthen cultural bonds and foster a sense of pride among people connected to Bihar.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by cultural performances showcasing the vibrant traditions of Bihar, including folk music and dance. A specially curated video and video messages highlighting Bihar’s glorious past, its contributions to Indian civilization and its growing role in the country’s development were also screened for the audience.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad stated that Bihar has always remained at the forefront in every field, including civil services, medicine, engineering, arts, and literature. He remarked that the contribution of the people of Bihar, from ancient times to the present day, has been invaluable. Describing Bihar as the cradle of the “golden bird,” he expressed confidence that the state will continue to lead in the future as well. He further emphasized that the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for a developed India cannot be realized without the active participation of the people of Bihar, who will undoubtedly play a leading role in this journey. He expressed optimism about the bright future of Bihar and conveyed his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Bihar Diwas.
Mr. Rupesh Singh, Chairman, Bihar Foundation, Punjab & Chandigarh Chapter, in his address, emphasized the importance of preserving cultural roots while contributing to nation-building. He appreciated the efforts of the Bihar Foundation in connecting the diaspora and promoting Bihar’s identity across regions.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the commitment to continue celebrating Bihar’s legacy and strengthening community engagement in the region.
