Chandigarh, January 28 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. He said it was an extremely tragic incident, and as soon as the news emerged this morning, a wave of grief spread across the country. Reacting to the statement of the Punjab Chief Minister regarding the SYL issue, he said that Haryana too is the land of “Hari,” and “Hari” gives the message of moving forward together with everyone.
While interacting with the media today, Energy Minister Anil Vij paid floral tributes on behalf of himself and the state of Haryana.

Responding to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s statement on the SYL issue, in which he said that they are descendants of Kanhaiya who even offer water to enemies and that Haryana is their friend, Anil Vij said it was good to hear such words from Bhagwant Mann. He added that Haryana too belongs to the land of “Hari,” and “Hari” teaches the message of harmony and walking together with everyone.

Reacting sharply to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement on VB-G Ram Ji (MNREGA), in which he claimed that the country is being pushed back towards kings and monarchs, Anil Vij said that Congress has been gripped by the “MNREGA ghost.” He said that schemes are reformed and even renamed, but Congress does not have a problem with the scheme itself—rather, it has a problem with the two words in its name. The first word, “Vikas,” troubles Congress because it never delivered development during its rule. Despite ruling for fifty years, Congress neither created strong infrastructure nor succeeded in eliminating poverty. The second word that causes them discomfort is “Ram.” He said Congress will always remain uncomfortable with Lord Ram, as Lord Ram resides in every particle. He added that Congress could not build a temple for Lord Ram there, and Rahul Gandhi himself has not visited the site for darshan till date.
Haryana pre-budget meeting: Anil Vij’s jibe at the opposition for staying away
Calling it unfortunate that no opposition representative attended the Haryana pre-budget meeting, Anil Vij said the government has initiated a series of pre-budget meetings in a very democratic manner to prepare the budget, inviting all MLAs and MPs. However, no one from the opposition attended. He remarked that perhaps the opposition does not understand the budget or has no knowledge about budgetary matters.

Chandigarh, January 28 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij today inspected the ongoing construction works of three major projects in Ambala Cantonment—Atal Mall & Bank Square, Night Food Street and the Fire Brigade Building. During the inspection, he directed to the Municipal Council officials and construction agencies to complete the remaining work at the earliest, stating that all three projects are in their final stages.
It is noteworthy that these projects, being developed at a total cost of approximately Rs.200 crore, will directly benefit the public upon completion and are expected to prove milestones in the overall development of Ambala Cantonment.
*Growing Public Interest in Atal Mall & Bank Square*
During the inspection, Energy Minister Anil Vij directed that the first phase of Atal Mall & Bank Square be completed as soon as possible so that banks shifting there can begin operations without delay. He informed that the first phase, being developed at a cost of about Rs.111 crore, is nearing completion, while tenders for the second phase will also be allotted soon.
He said that shifting of banks to this complex will reduce congestion in existing markets and provide banking facilities to citizens under one roof. He also instructed officials to enhance public amenities such as benches and seating arrangements for visitors. Officials and representatives of the construction agency informed that the first phase of Bank Square is likely to be completed by the end of March. They said that construction of 44 showrooms in the first phase has been completed and the project is in its final stage. A large number of people are visiting daily to inquire about showroom availability.
Under the first phase, a three-storey building with a total of 44 showrooms has been constructed—17 on the first floor, 14 on the second floor and 13 on the third floor. The complex is equipped with four separate lifts, parking facilities for 317 cars in the basement and ground floor, and a 70 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). In the second phase, a building with 54 showrooms will be constructed—17 on the first floor, 17 on the second floor and 20 on the third floor. This phase will also include five lifts and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 450 people. The state government has already granted administrative approval of Rs. 64.47 crore for the second phase.
*Inspection of Night Food Street: Focus on Better Public facilities*
During his inspection of the Night Food Street on Jagadhri Road, Ambala, Sh. Anil Vij directed Municipal Council officials to further enhance public facilities. He instructed that tables and chairs be installed in the adjoining open space for seating, along with waterproof umbrellas so that visitors can comfortably enjoy food even during adverse weather. He also directed installation of decorative lighting, construction of shelves in front of shops and other improvements. The Night Food Street is being developed by the Municipal Council at a cost of around Rs.5.5 crore. A total of 60 shops have been constructed, including 40 vegetarian and 20 non-vegetarian outlets. The process of allotting shops has already been initiated to ensure quality food services for the public.
The entire market will be air-conditioned and will have an adjacent parking facility. Special emphasis is being laid on decoration and beautification to enhance visitor experience. Granite flooring has been provided, and a treatment plant will be installed to treat waste food material and wastewater generated from the shops before disposal.
*Inspection of Fire Brigade Building*
Energy Minister Anil Vij also inspected the Fire Brigade Building and reviewed the progress of construction. Municipal Council officials informed him that nearly 95 percent of the work has been completed and the remaining work will be finished in the coming days. The minister inspected the building premises, reviewed staff facilities and also inspected the adjoining residential block.
The Fire Brigade project is being developed at a cost of approximately Rs.16 crore and includes a three-storey main office building and a five-storey residential block. Officials said that the main building will have parking facilities for 15 fire brigade vehicles and several operational rooms. The adjoining five-storey residential block will have 10 three-bedroom flats for staff accommodation.
