Chandigarh, 26.10.25- : St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45-B Chandigarh, organized a Herbal Literacy Workshop on 25th October 2025 to promote awareness about the responsible and informed use of herbal plants in daily life.
Mr. Om Parkash introduced Dr. Rajiv Kapila, an expert in Ayurvedic traditions, who traced the roots of herbal knowledge to ancient Indian wisdom found in the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the teachings of Dhanwantri and Sushruta Rishi.

Dr. Rajiv’s session focused on the practical applications of Ayurveda in modern life. He emphasized dietary discipline, the use of pure spices, and the kitchen as an “Ayurvedic laboratory.”
He also highlighted the medicinal benefits of various herbs such as Giloy, Amarbel , Shivlingi, Shatavari & Neem for our health care system. He also emphasized Bhumiamla for jaundice, Karela as natural insulin, and Moringa (Sahjan) as a rich source of nutrition.
He further mentioned the importance of the Ashoka tree and Shivlingi seeds as a tonic to boost fertility in women .
The workshop concluded with a message encouraging the adoption of natural, local, and seasonal living for better health and sustainability. It successfully bridged ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern wellness practices, inspiring participants to embrace a holistic lifestyle — truly reflecting the spirit of Herbal Literacy. The Chief Guests, Dr. Kapila & Mr. Om Prakash were felicitated with a token of appreciation and presented with herbal plants from the school’s nursery as a gesture of gratitude and to reinforce the theme of sustainable living.

60 Staff members of the school participated in the herbal plants workshop under 100% literacy mission regarding herbal plants.
