Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurates animal carcass incinerator plant at Raipurkalan Gaushala
Chandigarh, September 12:- In a significant step towards enhancing sanitation and environmental health in the city, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has made functional a newly constructed Animal Carcass Incinerator Plant. The project was officially inaugurated today by city Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, marking its operational commencement in the presence of MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Area Councillor Sh. Harjeet Singh and other senior officials of MCC and local area residents.
Constructed on a Design & Build basis, the plant also includes a five-year Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) to ensure its sustained efficiency and upkeep. The total cost of the project comes ₹1.79 crores.
Speaking on the occassion, the Mayor said that the facility comprises two high-efficiency incinerators:
Big Animal Incinerator with a burning capacity of 300 kg/hour and gas consumption of 320 kg for 8 hours of operation.
Small Animal Incinerator with a burning capacity of 50 kg/hour and gas consumption of 96 kg for 8 hours of operation.
The plant ensures the scientific and eco-friendly disposal of animal carcasses, which will play a crucial role in improving public hygiene, health, and environmental safety across Chandigarh.
She further said that, “This facility was a much-needed addition to the sanitation infrastructure. It reflects the ongoing efforts to provide modern and effective services to the citizens and to keep the city clean, safe, and healthy.”

MC Chandigarh begins road repair work in Industrial area phase I
Chandigarh, September 12:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has commenced patch repair work in Industrial Area Phase I. Undertaken by the Engineering Wing, the initiative aims to improve road conditions and ensure a smoother and safer commute for workers, residents, and daily commuters.
The repair work is part of the MC’s ongoing infrastructure enhancement efforts across the city. These damaged stretches are being prioritized to minimize inconvenience and improve traffic flow. The Municipal Corporation has urged citizens to cooperate during the work and assured timely completion of the repairs.

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla Leads Green Mission in Dumping ground Daddumajra; launches Plantation Drive
Chandigarh, September 12:- In a significant step towards enhancing the green cover and improving environmental conditions, city Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla spearheaded a massive plantation drive inside the boundary wall of the dumping ground at Dadumajra.
Accompanied by the Superintending Engineer (H&E) and dedicated horticulture staff of the Municipal Corporation, the initiative saw the plantation of 125 tree saplings including Sterculia alata and Sukhchain, along with 500 shrubs of Single Chandi, Excoecaria bicolor, Raat ki Rani, and Hamelia Patens.
The Mayor emphasized that the plantation of oxygen-generating species is part of a broader strategy to combat environmental challenges and improve air quality in the area. “Our aim is to transform Dadumajra by increasing greenery, reducing pollution, and addressing public concerns. Every step is being taken to curb foul odors and other civic issues, which will be resolved very soon,” she stated.
She further said that the Municipal Corporation remains committed to sustainable urban development and community well-being, with continued efforts to beautify the city and promote ecological balance.
