CHANDIGARH, 06.09.25-The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has once again reaffirmed its position among the nation’s premier healthcare institutions by securing 2nd Rank in the Medical Category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, announced today by Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India, at a ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Minister of State for Education, Sh. Sukanto Majumdar, along with other dignitaries, graced the occasion.
Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, while congratulating the entire PGIMER fraternity, stated. “This recognition is not just an accolade but a reflection of the Institute’s unwavering commitment to patient care, medical education, and path-breaking research. I dedicate this achievement to the tireless efforts of our faculty, staff, and students, whose excellence has consistently kept PGIMER among the very best.”
Prof. Lal also expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and President of the Institute, Shri J.P. Nadda, for his continued guidance and encouragement.
In the 10th edition of the NIRF Rankings, PGIMER retained its second position among India’s leading medical institutions, with AIIMS New Delhi securing the top spot, followed by CMC Vellore and NIMHANS at third and fourth positions respectively. Prof. R.K. Ratho, Dean Academic, PGIMER Chandigarh, received the award on behalf of the Institute at the New Delhi ceremony.
