CHANDIGARH, 05.09.25-To mark the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight, PGIMER Eye Bank, in collaboration with Lions Club Central and GMCH Eye Bank, organized an awareness walk from Rock Garden to Sukhna Lake with the aim of spreading the noble message of eye donation.
The walk witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 300 people, including Medical Supritendent of PGIMER Dr. Vipin Kaushal, Dr. S.S. Pandav (HOD, Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER), Dr. Amit Gupta (Incharge, PGIMER Eye Bank) Dr. Chintan (Professor, Advanced Eye Centre), Dr. Parul Chawla Gupta (Additional Professor, Advanced Eye Centre), Optometry staff and students and Eye Bank staff from PGIMER, Dr. Arya (Professor Incharge, GMCH-32 Eye Bank). Members of Lions Club Chandigarh Central also joined in large numbers to lend their support.
A major highlight of the walk was the active involvement of principal (Dr Sukhpal Kaur) faculty (Ms Meenakshi Agnihotri) and students from NINE nursing college, whose spirited participation added strength and energy to the campaign. Their presence reflected the growing support of the younger generation and healthcare professionals in carrying forward the message of eye donation.
Participants walked in unison, raising slogans to create awareness about eye donation. On this occasion, Dr. Vipin Kaushal, Dr. S.S. Pandav, Dr. Amit Gupta, and Dr. Arya appealed to the public to pledge for eye donation, emphasizing that this act of kindness can bridge the gap between donors and recipients, and restore the gift of sight to countless patients suffering from corneal blindness.
