SHIMLA-8th May, 2025-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that Operation Sindoor launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emerged as a symbol of immense national pride. Addressing a state-level event on the occasion of International Red Cross Day at the Mini Secretariat in Hamirpur, today, the Governor said that the entire nation salutes the Indian Armed Forces for its decisive and precise action.

“The Indian Army has given a befitting reply to the terrorists responsible for the recent brutal killings of innocent civilians,” he said. “We are proud of our Armed Forces. It is commendable that the Indian Army executed this operation with precision, targeting terrorist hideouts across the border without causing harm to innocent civilians in Pakistan.”

Governor said that the Operation Sindoor was more than just a military strike. It represented India’s sovereignty, strategic strength and unyielding resolve against terrorism. “It was a moment of pride for the entire nation,” he added.

Extending greetings on International Red Cross Day, the Governor said the Red Cross is an institution dedicated to humanitarian service. He said that its legacy of selfless service and commitment has earned it worldwide recognition. “This day reminds us all to uphold the spirit of its services,” he said.

Shiv Pratap Shukla said that the Red Cross Society in Himachal Pradesh was actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged. He called upon citizens to support the Red Cross and contributes to humanitarian causes. He expressed satisfaction over the reopening of the Red Cross Laboratory in the district, which would greatly benefit those in need. He also appreciated the efforts of the district administration in expanding the activities of the Red Cross.

Earlier, the Governor flagged off a rally organized by the District Red Cross Society from the Circuit House Complex. Students from various educational institutions participated in the rally. The rally was organized to spread messages of environmental conservation and drug de-addiction. Lady Governor and Chairperson of the State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section, Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.

Later, the Governor reopened the Red Cross Laboratory at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College and Hospital. He also launched a blood donation camp and inaugurated an open-air gym installed at the Mini Secretariat complex.

On this occasion, the Governor paid floral tributes at the statues of Shaheed Captain Mridul and Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The Governor also distributed artificial limbs to specially-abled individuals and honored achievers in the fields of sports, arts and other disciplines. He conducted a referral draw and announced the winners.

Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Red Cross Society Amarjeet Singh welcomed the Governor. He briefed him on recent renovations and infrastructure improvements and said the reopening of the Red Cross Laboratory would greatly benefit the needy and also generate revenue. He informed that numerous activities were being conducted through the Red Cross and that since last year, 17 new patrons and 135 new life members had joined the Society, increasing the total membership to 750.

Superintendent of Police Bhagat Singh Thakur felicitated the Lady Governor and shared details of the district’s initiatives towards drug de-addiction.

Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of the District Red Cross Society Abhishek Kumar Garg briefed the gathering on various Red Cross activities being implemented in the district.

Assistant Commissioner Anupam Kumar welcomed the Governor on the occasion.

On the occasion special children from the organization "Pahchaan" presented a vibrant cultural performance.

MLAs Ashish Sharma and Ranjit Singh Rana, Secretary to the Governor and General Secretary of the State Red Cross Society C.P. Verma, officials of the district administration and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
