CHANDIGARH, 04.05.25-The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a 3-day workshop on ‘Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Start-ups’. The aim of the workshop was to equip participants with necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the financial challenges of startups.

The workshop featured engaging sessions by distinguished speakers including Mr. Hirdesh Madan, Founder and Managing Director, Hitbullseye, Mr. Kamaljeet Singh, Founder and CEO, Proftrain Mentors and Profuturistic.com, and Mr. Joginder Singh Bhutani, Ex AGM and Financial Literacy Counsellor, SBI Regional Office, Chandigarh.

Mr. Hirdesh shared his entrepreneurial journey and spoke about the importance of ethics, resilience, and adaptability in business. He elaborated on different funding stages, including bootstrapping, seed financing, and angel investment, explaining how businesses progress through various rounds of investment.

Mr. Kamaljeet Singh focused on venture capital, private equity, and government funding schemes for start-ups. He explained the challenges entrepreneurs face in securing financial support and provided practical tips on financial planning, risk management, and securing business loans.

Mr. Joginder Singh emphasised the importance of managing cash flows, budgeting, and risk assessment for startup sustainability. He introduced students to government grant schemes and financial aid programs that can help young entrepreneurs secure the necessary resources for their ventures.

Ms. Gazal, Manager and Verbal Trainer at Hitbullseye, conducted a business acumen test and quiz, which helped students assess their analytical and decision-making skills. She highlighted the importance of consistency and strategic planning in entrepreneurship, providing students with practical knowledge to improve their business understanding.

The final day of the workshop provided students with hands-on learning through an industrial visit to the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Sector 35, Chandigarh. During this visit, students attended expert lectures on entrepreneurial vision, mission, and goal-setting. .

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded this highly inspiring event and expressed hope that the knowledge gained during the sessions will help students in their entrepreneurial journeys, providing them with clarity on financial planning, investment options, business strategies, and a deeper understanding of the start-up ecosystem.
