Modi government strengthening farmers’ financial security, AAP govt must answer for unfulfilled promises: Kewal Singh Dhillon

BJP ensured financial assistance to farmers even when AAP is in power: Dhillon

AAP’s much-publicised election promises, guarantees made to the farmers remain unfulfilled: Dhillon

Chandigarh, November 1:Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to farmers’ welfare can be clearly seen in the continuous financial assistance being provided directly to farmers through central government schemes, while the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab had failed to fulfil its promises to the farming community.

Welcoming the release of the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), under which over ₹18,690 crore was transferred directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.34 crore farmers across the country, Dhillon said that the Modi government had ensured financial support reached farmers without middlemen. He pointed out that till 2025, Punjab farmers had received ₹6,553 crore under PM-KISAN since the scheme's inception, with ₹221.98 crore released in the 21st instalment alone.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of farmers through direct financial assistance and various welfare initiatives, even when AAP party is ruling in the state. On the other hand, Arvind Kejriwal must explain what concrete financial assistance their government has provided to Punjab's farmers beyond making tall promises," he said.

Dhillon further said that even during floods, the AAP government attempted to project financial assistance provided by the Centre as its own contribution, misleading the people of Punjab and taking credit for funds released by the Union Government.

“AAP govt had failed to fulfil even the compensation commitments he had personally announced for farmers who suffered crop losses. The government's much-publicised election promises and guarantees made to the farming community had also remained unfulfilled”, Dhillon said, adding that BJP stands firmly with Punjab's farmers and will continue to raise their concerns.

➖Has the Punjab Government Been Asleep for the Past Four-and-a-Half Years? Anil Sareen

➖ Approval for 35 Special NDPS Courts Comes Too Late: Anil Sareen

Chandigarh, November 1 :Punjab BJP General Secretary Anil Sareen questioned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for approving 35 special NDPS courts in the final phase of its five-year tenure, asking whether the Punjab Government had been asleep for the past four years and seven months. With barely five months left in its term, has the government suddenly woken up to the need to implement the PIT-NDPS Act and set up special courts?

Reacting to the Punjab Cabinet's decision to establish 35 special NDPS courts to expedite trials in drug-related cases and clear the backlog of 52,577 pending cases, Sareen said, “If the AAP government was genuinely serious about tackling the drug menace in Punjab, why did it not announce such measures in its very first year in power? It has taken the government nearly five years to realise the need for special courts. Now, with its tenure nearing its end, the government has suddenly woken up to making announcements.”

Sareen further said, “The people of Punjab know that drug traffickers enjoy political patronage from AAP leaders, MLAs, ministers and even those occupying the highest positions in the government. Why has the government failed to order a thorough investigation into allegations made by its own party leaders and MLAs against fellow leaders and legislators over their alleged links with drug trafficking? Why have these serious allegations not been investigated so far? The government must make it clear whether it is genuinely committed to eradicating drugs from Punjab or is merely making announcements to divert public attention.”

Sareen emphasised that concrete action against drug trafficking networks was essential to tackle the menace. He asserted that the BJP remained firmly committed to its resolve to make Punjab drug-free by December 31, 2029, if voted to power in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.

Congress rally on day of Sikh massacre is toying with Sikh sentiments: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Chandigarh, November 1-Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said that by holding a rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1, the Congress and the INDIA alliance have rubbed salt into the wounds of Sikhs, for which the Congress can never be forgiven. He said the Congress first had thousands of Sikhs massacred on this day in 1984, and the entire community still mourns on this day. Even after 42 years, instead of seeking forgiveness for its sin, the Congress is holding rallies and reopening the wounds of Sikhs.

State president Dhillon said the Congress should have apologised to the victims' families on this day, but is instead putting on a show of strength. He said this reflects the Congress's anti-Sikh mindset.

Dhillon said that, having failed to win the people's mandate, the Congress is frustrated and blaming constitutional institutions. Unable to bear continuous defeats, he said, the Congress is in a state of agitation and is blaming the Election Commission.

He also said that during the festive season, this rally has caused shopkeepers and traders in Delhi to suffer losses worth crores of rupees, which is highly condemnable.
