Chandigarh, August 29:- Chandigarh MP Sh. Manish Tiwari today led a “Swachhta Ki Karyashala” at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, Chandigarh, organised by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to sensitise students about cleanliness, source segregation, responsible waste management and their role in building a cleaner, greener and sustainable Chandigarh.

The workshop was attended by MC Joint Commissioner Sh. Balbir Raj Singh, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Inderdeep Kaur and senior officials of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

Interacting with the students, Sh. Manish Tiwari shared his experiences and highlighted the importance of making cleanliness a part of everyday life. He encouraged students to become Swachhta Ambassadors and carry the message of responsible waste management from their schools to their homes and communities.

The MP also interacted with students about their future goals and aspirations, listened to their views and experiences, and appreciated their enthusiasm and active participation. He lauded the efforts of the Municipal Corporation in taking the message of swachhta to schools and communities.

During the workshop, MC officials explained the importance of source segregation and the four-bin waste segregation system, covering wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and other categories. Interactive activities and practical demonstrations were conducted to help students understand proper waste handling and disposal.

The students actively participated in discussions and shared their experiences on cleanliness and waste management. The Municipal Corporation urged citizens to adopt source segregation, ensure responsible waste disposal, reduce single-use plastic and collectively contribute towards making Chandigarh cleaner, greener and more sustainable.
