Chandigarh, August 27:Exposing the failures, anti-women policies and false promises of the Aam Aadmi Party government, BJP Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon said that the real “respect” shown by the AAP government towards the women of Punjab, whom it has misled for the past four-and-a-half years, has been limited to batons and repression.

State President Kewal Singh Dhillon shared the festive spirit with mothers, sisters and daughters at an impressive Rakhi celebration organised by senior BJP leader Gurdarshan Singh Saini in Lalru on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. He extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Punjab on the festival of Rakhi. On the occasion, thousands of women tied Rakhis on his wrist, and he sought their blessings while distributing suits as gifts. He said that Rakhi is not merely a thread, but a symbol of the love, trust and protection between brothers and sisters. No society can progress without the participation of women.

Extending his greetings to mothers and sisters on Raksha Bandhan, Kewal Singh Dhillon said that women play an important role in the life of every individual.

Slamming the AAP government for its failures, State President Dhillon said that the lathi-charge on MGNREGA women workers in Khanna, the assault in which sanitation worker women in Barnala suffered head injuries, and the repression of women employees demanding their rights in Sangrur expose the true face of the government.

Kewal Singh Dhillon said that the promise made by Arvind Kejriwal before the elections to provide ₹1,000 per month to every woman above the age of 18 has not been fulfilled even after four-and-a-half years. Now, with elections approaching, women are being entangled in a web of conditions and registration procedures. He said that women are entitled to ₹60,000 for the full five-year period and urged them to demand their rightful dues from the AAP government.

Kewal Singh Dhillon said that despite claiming that drugs would be eradicated within three months, the government has allowed drugs to be sold from door to door across Punjab. He said that the devastating impact of the drug menace is being borne primarily by mothers and sisters. He therefore called upon the people to contribute towards removing the AAP government, which he accused of promoting the drug menace in Punjab.

He appealed to the people to support the BJP to make Punjab drug-free, safeguard the future of its youth and establish a welfare-oriented government inspired by the ideals of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s ‘Sarkar-e-Khalsa’.

State Vice President Ranjit Singh Gill, District President Sanjeev Vashisht, Gurdarshan Singh Saini, Sanjeev Khanna, Ekta Nagpal, Sushil Rana, along with a large number of women and party workers, were present at the event.
