Chandigarh, August 9:Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government’s so-called ‘Education Revolution’ in Punjab, BJP Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon said that the very government which had made tall claims about making education accessible to every child is now moving towards shutting the doors of medical education for children from poor and middle-class families by imposing a steep hike in MBBS fees.

Dhillon said there is a vast difference between the government’s words and its actions. On one hand, advertisements showcasing an ‘Education Revolution’ are being run, while on the other, higher education, particularly medical education, is continuously being made more expensive. When an ordinary family dreams of making its child a doctor, the biggest obstacle it faces is the cost of education. Increasing fees further at such a time reflects the government’s anti-people approach.

He said that according to reports, MBBS fees in Punjab’s medical colleges have been increased substantially. Fees in government colleges have also gone up, while the total course fee in private medical colleges has increased from ₹21.48 lakh to approximately ₹25.22 lakh. In addition, other fees associated with medical education have also been increased.

Dhillonsaid this is not merely a matter of increasing fees, but an issue concerning the future of thousands of young people in Punjab. If the government continues to make education more expensive instead of keeping it within the reach of ordinary people, deserving children from poor and middle-class families will be deprived of medical education, and their dreams of becoming doctors will be shattered simply because of financial constraints.

Questioning the double standards of the AAP government, he said that on one hand, the government talks about framing laws and policies to check the growth of private schools, while on the other, it is itself increasing the cost of medical education. If the government genuinely considers education a right of the common people, then why is it making an important professional education like medicine more expensive?

Kewal Singh Dhillon said, “An education revolution does not happen merely by showcasing it in advertisements. A true education revolution happens when a child from a poor farmer’s, labourer’s or middle-class family in Punjab can access quality higher education without an unbearable financial burden. But the policies of the AAP government are moving in the opposite direction.”

He said the government must immediately withdraw the hike in MBBS fees and ensure that lack of money does not become a barrier for any meritorious Punjabi student aspiring to become a doctor. “The so-called education revolution of the AAP is now visible not in advertisements but in the fee figures—and these figures are exposing the reality of the government before the people of Punjab.”➖ Dhillon Launches Punjab BJP’s

Chandigarh, August 9-The Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab has taken a major digital step to take its organisational activities and public-oriented initiatives to the people. During a special programme, Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon launched the party’s official WhatsApp channel. Punjab BJP in-charge Narinder Singh Raina, General Secretary Organisation Manthrii Srinivasulu and Social Media Convenor Ajay Arora were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhillon appreciated the party’s social media initiative and said that the WhatsApp channel would enable people to connect directly with the party’s activities through their mobile phones. He said that the channel would provide people with the latest information on the party’s daily activities, organisational decisions and public welfare schemes of the Central Government directly on their mobile phones.
