Chandigarh, August 8:- Chandigarh Mayor, Sh. Saurabh Joshi, today commenced the construction work of a new public toilet near Valmiki Temple at Ramlila Ground, Sector 24-C, Chandigarh, in the presence of Municipal Corporation officials, local residents, representatives of Resident Welfare Associations and members of the Dussehra Committee.

The new public toilet facility is being constructed under the Ward Development Fund at an estimated cost of ₹14.66 lakh. The facility is expected to be completed within three months.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi said that providing clean, hygienic and accessible public sanitation facilities is an important priority of the Municipal Corporation. He said the new facility would benefit visitors to the Valmiki Temple and Ramlila Ground, morning walkers, park users and residents of the surrounding areas.

The Mayor further said that the Municipal Corporation is working to strengthen basic civic amenities across Chandigarh and ensure that public facilities are maintained with proper standards of cleanliness and hygiene. He emphasised that sanitation infrastructure plays an important role in creating a cleaner and healthier city.

Sh. Saurabh Joshi also appealed to citizens to make responsible use of public facilities and contribute towards keeping Chandigarh clean. He said that the project reflects the Municipal Corporation’s continued commitment to improving civic amenities and advancing the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Local residents, RWA representatives and Dussehra Committee members present on the occasion welcomed the initiative and expressed their appreciation for the development of the facility.
