Chandigarh, May 26:- Continuing its sustained campaign against illegal encroachments and unauthorized vending, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a major anti-encroachment drive at various locations across the city with the support of local police authorities.
The drive was conducted in Indira Colony, Manimajra under the supervision of the enforcement team along with police force and the SHO of Manimajra Police Station.
During the operation, 18 illegal vendors operating without valid licences were removed from the area.
The enforcement team also conducted a drive at Sector-26 outer Mandi where 13 illegal vendors were removed for unauthorized occupation of public spaces.
In the evening, another intensive drive was carried out near Shastri Market, Sector-22, during which 25 challans were issued against illegal vendors and encroachers.
Altogether, the Municipal Corporation issued a total of 53 challans during the day-long enforcement action aimed at ensuring smooth movement of traffic and maintaining public convenience in city markets and congested areas.
