Chandigarh, 17 May: World Himachali Organisation organised its first annual cultural festival, ‘Nyunder 2026’, at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women. Marking the first anniversary celebrations of the organisation, the event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh while recognising the dedicated service of 50 NSS volunteers from various schools and colleges of Chandigarh for their hard work, dedication and community service by Sh. Anurag Thakur, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Former Union Minister, Government of India. The event was attended by Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament Sh. Sikandar Kumar and Sh. Anurag Sharma, along with Sh. Rajiv Bhardwaj, Member of Parliament, Kangra-Chamba. Dr. Anoop Kumar Vats, National Coordinator (Colleges), DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, graced the event as the Special Guest, who appreciated the initiative for honouring NSS volunteers while simultaneously preserving and promoting cultural traditions among the youth. Dean, Cultural Affairs at the college, Dr. Sukhpreet Bhatia, was also felicitated for her exemplary contribution towards promoting cultural activities and nurturing artistic talent in the college. Adding vibrancy to the celebrations, renowned Himachali folk singer Karnail Rana enthralled the audience with a mesmerising cultural performance. Traditional Naati performances further highlighted the colourful folk heritage and cultural ethos of Himachal Pradesh. The event concluded with a traditional Himachali Dham, offering guests an authentic experience of Himachali cuisine and hospitality.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma commended the organisers for successfully hosting the cultural extravaganza and for recognising the invaluable contribution of NSS volunteers. She appreciated the event for fostering cultural harmony, social responsibility and meaningful community engagement among the youth.
