Chandigarh, April 3:- Continuing its firm commitment towards maintaining public order and ensuring obstruction-free movement for citizens, the enforcement wing of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out an intensive anti-encroachment drive today across key areas of the city.

The drive was primarily conducted in the Industrial Area Phase-1, where widespread encroachments on pathways and road berms were identified and promptly removed. The enforcement team cleared various unauthorized items including plastic chairs, sofa sets, swings, steel counters, tables, revolving chairs, and mechanical jacks that were illegally occupying public spaces. A total of 61 challans were issued during this operation.

Subsequently, a follow-up drive was conducted in Sector 20, particularly near parking areas, where 7 illegal rehri (street vendors) were removed for obstructing public pathways. During this action, 10 challans were issued.

Overall, the day-long enforcement drive resulted in a total of 71 challans, reflecting the Municipal Corporation’s zero-tolerance policy towards encroachments and violations of civic norms.
