New Chandigarh, 03.04.26-A state-of-the-art 3 Tesla (3T) MRI scanner was inaugurated at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, New Chandigarh, Punjab on April 2, 2026, marking a major boost to advanced cancer diagnostics. The facility has been installed under Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s CSR initiative.
The inauguration was carried out by Bibhuti Ranjan Pradhan and Ashutosh Gupta in the presence of Director Dr Ashish Gulia. The MRI system, installed at a cost of approximately тВ╣16 crore, offers high-resolution imaging and faster scan times, enabling accurate tumor detection and improved treatment planning.
Dr Gulia thanked IOCL for its continued support, noting that such partnerships strengthen affordable cancer care delivery. IOCL officials reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing public healthcare infrastructure and improving early diagnosis and outcomes for cancer patients across Punjab.
