"Mayor Saurabh Joshi Directs Completion of All Development Works Within the Year"

Chandigarh, April 2:- The Mayor of Chandigarh, Sh. Saurabh Joshi, today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess budget expenditure and development planning for the year 2026–27, with a strong emphasis on taking up all sanctioned works and pending works immediately and ensuring their completion within the year.

The meeting was attended by Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief Engineer, along with all Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other senior officials of the Municipal Corporation. Detailed discussions were held on key financial aspects including receipts, capital expenditure and revenue (non-plan) expenditure, as well as the progress of ongoing development and infrastructure projects across the city.

The Mayor specifically reviewed the status of centrally funded schemes and other Government-supported programmes, directing the concerned officers to ensure effective utilization of funds and timely completion of works under these schemes so that the intended benefits reach citizens without delay.

During the meeting, the Mayor stressed the need for efficient planning, strict monitoring and transparent utilisation of resources, directing all engineering wings to prioritize execution of projects and ensure that all approved works are completed within the year.

A major focus of the meeting was also on strengthening revenue generation mechanisms. The Mayor urged officials to explore innovative and sustainable measures to enhance municipal income, thereby ensuring stronger financial capacity for future development initiatives.

Chief Engineer Sh. Sanjay Arora and the concerned officers presented detailed updates on expenditure trends and project implementation. They assured that all departments will work in close coordination to accelerate execution and complete the planned works within the year as per the approved budget provisions.

Reiterating the Corporation’s vision, Mayor Saurabh Joshi emphasized planned urban development, improved civic amenities and robust financial management, aimed at delivering better services and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Chandigarh.

“New Foot Bridge at Faidan Opens, Boosts Connectivity for 10,000 Residents”

Chandigarh, April 2:- Mayor of Chandigarh Sh. Saurabh Joshi today inaugurated a newly constructed foot bridge at Village Faidan, marking a significant step towards improving local connectivity and public convenience. The inauguration was held in the presence of Area Councillor Sh. Jasbir Singh and officials of the Municipal Corporation.

The newly built foot bridge, spanning 27 metres in length and 3 metres in width, has been thoughtfully designed to ensure safe and smooth movement for pedestrians as well as two-wheelers. The project is set to directly benefit nearly 10,000 residents of the area, addressing long-standing connectivity issues.

Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1.10 crore, the bridge provides a reliable and secure passage, significantly easing daily commuting challenges faced by local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor highlighted the Municipal Corporation’s unwavering commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure and enhancing ease of living for citizens. He emphasized that such development works are integral to building a well-connected and accessible city.

Residents of Village Faidan welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude, noting that the bridge will greatly improve daily mobility and ensure safer access across the stretch.

Evening Water Supply at low pressure on 3rd & 4th April

Chandigarh, 02 April:The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has informed that due to the replacement of the 1200 mm diameter PSC pipeline (Phase-III) with a spiral welded MS pipeline at Vidhya Valley and Shivalik Park, a shutdown has been approved by the competent authority from 03.04.2026 to 04.04.2026 (48 hours).

During this period, pumping of raw water from Phase-III Kajauli to Water Works Sector-39, Chandigarh will remain suspended. Therefore, the water supply timings in the entire city of Chandigarh during these two days will be regulated as under:

03.04.2026
Morning Supply: 03:30 AM to 09:00 AM — Water supply at full pressure.
Evening Supply: 06:00 PM to 08:30 PM — Water supply at low pressure.

04.04.2026
Morning Supply: 03:30 AM to 09:00 AM — Water supply at full pressure.
Evening Supply: 06:00 PM to 08:30 PM — Water supply at low pressure.

Residents are requested to store adequate water and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh during the shutdown period.
