CHANDIGARH,17.03.26-Residents Welfare Association MHC Sector-13 Chandigarh team, comprising its President Colonel Gursewak Singh, General Secretary Mr SA Qureshi and Secretary Ms Mandeep Kaur met Shri Sauabh Joshi, Mayor Chandigarh to discuss local issues.

St the out set, the President welcomed the current proposal to extend the Mayor’s tenure from one year to two and a half years. However, he suggested that to make the position more effective and impactful, the Mayor should be given discretionary powers to endorse the confidential reports of MC officers.

He also highlighted, with examples, that routine and minor works of the Municipal Corporation are often delayed unnecessarily. He suggested that the system needs to be revamped to ensure accountability of the concerned officers for such delays and for inadequate supervision, which ultimately leads to lackadaisical approach among the ground staff.
The Mayor took notes of these points to ensure prompt action.
