Chandigarh, February 18:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has achieved another significant milestone in its digital governance initiatives as registrations under the ‘MC One Pass’ have crossed the 5,000 mark.
While sharing this information, MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, said that this achievement reflects the growing trust of citizens in the Corporation’s technology-driven, transparent, and citizen-centric services. Launched with the objective of providing seamless and integrated civic services on a single platform, ‘MC One Pass’ has simplified access to multiple municipal services, saving valuable time and effort for residents.
He stated that crossing the 5,000 registration mark is a clear indication that citizens of Chandigarh are actively embracing digital services. He further emphasized that the Corporation remains committed to expanding and strengthening such initiatives to ensure greater convenience, efficiency, and transparency in service delivery.

MC Chandigarh takes strict action against illegal dumping near motor market, Manimajra; ₹14,071 challan issued
Chandigarh, February 18:- In a continued drive against illegal dumping and to maintain cleanliness across the city, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh took strict action today against violators found littering in public spaces.
During early morning inspection today, waste was found dumped near the Motor Market, close to a petrol pump in Manimajra. While lifting and examining the dumped garbage, the enforcement team recovered certain bills and documents linked to the concerned petrol pump, establishing clear evidence of the source of the waste.
Acting promptly on the evidence, the Sanitation Wing initiated immediate enforcement action and issued a challan of ₹14,071 to the petrol pump management in Manimajra, holding them accountable for irresponsible disposal of waste in an open public area.
The Commissioner, MC Chandigarh Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, has reiterated that strict day-and-night surveillance is being maintained to identify individuals and establishments involved in illegal dumping. He said that the Corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those attempting to deface and pollute the city.
He appealed to all residents, shopkeepers, commercial establishments, and institutions to strictly follow waste segregation norms and hand over garbage only to authorized Municipal Corporation vehicles. Dumping waste in open spaces, roadsides, markets, or public areas will invite stringent penalties. Any documentary proof found in dumped garbage will be used to trace and penalize the responsible party.

MC Chandigarh signs MoU with Door-to-Door Waste Collectors for commercial areas
Chandigarh, February 18:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has signed MoU with Door-to-Door Waste Collectors for commercial areas of Chandigarh here today.
The programme was graced by Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Mayor, as Chief Guest, in the presence of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Joint Commissioner and senior officers of the Corporation.
Through the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, the Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Door-to-Door Waste Collectors engaged in commercial areas of the city, including Ms. Sonia, Sh. Mukesh, Sh. Parmod, Sh. Bheem, Sh. Rohit, Sh. Paras, Sh. Mahinder, Sh. Sanjiv, Ms. Kavita, and Sh. Sahil.
The initiative formalizes their engagement and strengthens the waste management system under the Swachh Bharat Mission by clearly defining responsibilities related to scientific waste collection, mandatory segregation at source, and adherence to hygiene standards.
A focused awareness session was conducted highlighting the importance of segregating waste into Wet, Dry, and Domestic Hazardous categories, safe handling of municipal solid waste, and maintaining sanitation protocols. Swachhata Kits comprising masks, gloves, and essential cleaning tools were distributed to ensure the safety and welfare of sanitation workers.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor emphasized that segregation at source is essential for effective waste processing and appealed to commercial establishments and citizens to strictly comply with prescribed norms.
The Commissioner reiterated that active citizen participation and responsible waste management practices are crucial to achieving a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Chandigarh.

MC conducts anti-encroachment drive in Sectors 40, 41, Kajheri and Sector 26 Mandi; 73 challans issued
Chandigarh, February 18:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a comprehensive anti-encroachment drive in Sectors 40 and 41, Kajheri, and along the outer road of Sector 26 Mandi to curb unauthorized occupation of public spaces.
During the drive, enforcement teams took strict action against violators and issued a total of 73 challans. Various temporary structures and illegal encroachments obstructing pedestrian pathways and public areas were removed to ensure smooth movement and maintain civic order.
The drive was conducted as part of the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to keep city markets and residential areas free from encroachments and to uphold the planned character of the city.
The Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to continuing such enforcement drives in the future and appealed to citizens and vendors to adhere to civic norms and regulations.

MCC Declares Results of Class F, G & H – Best Garden in City during 54th Rose Festival 2026
Chandigarh, February 18: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has declared the results of the Garden and Landscape Competitions under Class F, G and H during the 54th Rose Festival–2026.
