Republic Day: Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh to Hoist National Flag in Panchkula, CM Nayab Singh Saini in Gurugram
Ministers, MPs and MLAs to Lead Republic Day Celebrations in All Haryana Districts
Chandigarh, January 20 - The Haryana Government has issued the schedule of dignitaries who will hoist the National Flag and preside over Republic Day celebrations on 26th January, 2026 at district and subdivision levels across the state. The ‘At Home’ programme will be held at Lok Bhawan, Chandigarh. The National Flag will be hoisted at 10.00 a.m. at all divisions, districts, sub-divisions, tehsils and other prominent places across the State.
According to a letter issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office, the Governor Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh will hoist the National Flag at Panchkula, while Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will preside over the Republic Day function at Gurugram.
Rajya Sabha Member Smt. Rekha Sharma will hoist the flag at Ambala, and at the subdivision level, the functions will be presided over by the Divisional Commissioner at Naraingarh, Sub Divisional Officer at Barara and by Sh. Kapoor Singh, MLA, Bawani Khera, at Loharu.
Cabinet Minister Sh. Ranbir Gangwa will hoist the flag at Bhiwani, while subdivision-level functions will be presided over by Sh. Mandeep Dalawas, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Charkhi Dadri, at Tosham and by Sh. Ghanshyam Saraf, MLA, Bhiwani, at Siwani.
Member of Parliament Sh. Dharambir Singh will hoist the flag at Charkhi Dadri, and the subdivision-level function at Badhra will be presided over by Sh. Umed Singh, MLA, Badhra.
Health Minister Arti Singh Rao will hoist the National Flag at Faridabad, while Sh. Dhanesh Adlakha, MLA, Badkhal, will preside over the function at Badkhal and Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, MLA, Ballabhgarh, at Ballabhgarh.
Deputy Speaker of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Sh. Krishan Lal Middha will hoist the flag at Fatehabad, with subdivision-level functions being presided over by Sh. Randhir Panihar, MLA, Nalwa, at Tohana and Smt. Suman Khichad, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Fatehabad, at Ratia.
Smt. Bimla Chaudhary, MLA, Pataudi, will preside over the function at Pataudi, Sh. Laxman Singh Yadav, MLA, Rewari, at Badshahpur, Sh. Mukesh Sharma, MLA, Gurugram, at Manesar, and Sh. Tejpal Tanwar, MLA, Sohna, at Sohna.
Union Minister Sh. Manohar Lal will hoist the National Flag at Hansi, while the subdivision-level function at Narnaund will be presided over by Sh. Vinod Bhayana, MLA.
School Education Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda will hoist the flag at Hisar, and the function at Barwala will be presided over by Smt. Savitri Jindal, MLA, Hisar.
Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Sh. Rajesh Nagar will hoist the National Flag at Jhajjar, while Sh. Rajesh Joon, MLA, Bahadurgarh, will preside at Bahadurgarh, Sh. CM Nayab Singh Saini to Hold Pre-Budget Consultations with Stakeholders in Manesar and Panipat today
Chandigarh, January 20 - Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will participate in the pre-budget consultation programmes in Manesar and Panipat on Wednesday. The objective of these programmes is to make the forthcoming State Budget more inclusive, development-oriented and aligned with public aspirations. This initiative is considered an important step by the State Government towards ensuring the participation of every section of society in the budget formulation process.
Senior administrative officers of the State Government, industrialists, representatives of industrial organisations, key stakeholders from the business community and experts from various fields will be present at the meetings in Manesar and Panipat. During the consultations, detailed discussions will be held on issues related to industrial development, investment promotion, employment generation, expansion of infrastructure, skill development, innovation and the overall economic progress of the State.
Through these pre-budget consultation programmes, the government aims to incorporate valuable suggestions into the policy-making process so that the forthcoming budget can provide a new direction to the overall development of the State and ensure equal opportunities for all sections.
It is noteworthy that earlier, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini also participated in pre-budget consultation programmes held in Faridabad, Gurugram and Hisar. During those meetings, discussions were held with women, panchayat representatives, social organisations and representatives of various sections of society. Through these interactions, suggestions related to development and issues concerning both rural and urban areas were collected.
These pre-budget consultation programmes being organised by the State Government are being regarded as an important step towards preparing a strong, balanced and future-oriented budget for the upcoming financial year, with special emphasis on maintaining a balance between development, social justice and economic strength.

High-level meeting held to strengthen trade and agricultural cooperation between Tanzania and Haryana
Chandigarh, January 20 – A high-level meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Principal Secretary, Haryana Foreign Cooperation and Civil Aviation Department, Smt. Amneet P. Kumar, to promote trade between Tanzania and Haryana. The meeting involved discussions with traders and progressive farmers on the possibilities of increasing farmers' income through agricultural activities in Tanzania. Advisor to the Chief Minister (Foreign Cooperation Department), Sh. Pawan Choudhary, was also present during the meeting.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the potential demand for agricultural machinery in Tanzania, crop selection suitable for different regions, opportunities in horticulture and pulse crops, availability of water for irrigation, and power supply. Besides this, traders associated with the mining sector also raised various sector-specific issues and queries during the discussion.
Smt. Amneet P. Kumar listened attentively to all suggestions and questions raised by the traders and farmers and assured them that the Haryana Government is working with a structured, transparent, and practical approach to promote international cooperation. She said that the government aims to ensure that traders and farmers receive timely and accurate information related to investment and agricultural opportunities in Tanzania.
It was also decided during the meeting that clear responsibilities would be assigned to concerned departments and officers for conducting surveys, field studies, and other necessary activities to assess potential opportunities in Tanzania, so that the future action plan can be implemented effectively. Government-level coordination will be ensured to provide all possible support to traders and farmers in this regard.
The traders present in the meeting appreciated the steps being taken by the Haryana Government to promote international trade and investment. They said that such initiatives will not only boost trade and industrial activities but will also give new momentum to a long-term, strong, and mutually beneficial partnership between Haryana and Tanzania.

Haryana Government Allows ‘Kirpan’ and ‘Mangalsutra’ for Candidates in Examinations, Issues Detailed Guidelines
Chandigarh, January 20 - The Haryana Government has issued detailed instructions to address recurring problems faced by Sikh students and married women candidates during examinations conducted by schools, colleges, universities, and recruiting agencies across the state.
According to a notification issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office, Sikh students and candidates appearing in examinations will be permitted to wear and carry a Kirpan subject to prescribed limits. The Kirpan should not exceed 9 inches (22.86 cm) in total length, with the blade length not exceeding 6 inches (15.24 cm). Such candidates have been advised to report to the examination centre at least one hour before the scheduled time.
The notification further states that married women candidates wearing Mangalsutra will also be allowed to wear the same during examinations. These candidates are required to report to the examination centre at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
The decision has been taken in the light of various judgments of the Hon’ble Delhi High Court and the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, which emphasized safeguarding religious and cultural rights while ensuring smooth conduct of examinations.
All Administrative Secretaries have been directed to ensure that heads of departments, boards, corporations, universities, and recruiting agencies under their control issue necessary instructions so that examination staff, invigilators, and security personnel are properly informed.
