Chandigarh, January 4: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women added another feather to its cap as NCC cadet SUO Manya Bahl represented India in the prestigious Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) held in Bhutan from December 12 to 19, 2025. Her achievement has brought laurels not only to the institution but also to the NCC fraternity at large. SUO Manya Bahl is also a recipient of the DGNCC Medal at the Republic Day Camp 2025, underscoring her exemplary performance and dedication.
The Indian NCC delegation arrived at Thimphu on the inaugural day of the programme and engaged with officials at the Indian Embassy, where they were apprised of the objectives and schedule of the programme. The YEP aimed at fostering youth diplomacy, enhancing leadership capabilities, and promoting cross-cultural understanding among participating nations. Throughout the programme, the cadets participated in a variety of adventure-based and experiential learning activities such as river rafting, trekking, and other physically demanding engagements designed to build resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills. A key highlight of the exchange was the cultural interaction, which provided the cadets an opportunity to engage with Bhutanese youth and gain first-hand exposure to local customs and traditions. Indian cadets also showcased the rich cultural heritage of India on an international platform, reinforcing their role as ambassadors of the nation.
The programme concluded on a memorable and prestigious note with a dinner hosted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan, Mr. Tshering Tobgay, and the Hon’ble Home Minister, Lyonpo Tshering. Reflecting the college’s consistent record of excellence in international representation, it is noteworthy that Cadet Rabya Siag of the college had also represented India under the YEP in 2024.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma expressed immense pride in SUO Manya Bahl’s accomplishment, stating that her achievement sets a strong precedent and will inspire future cadets to aspire for global platforms. She added that the continued success of the college’s NCC cadets is a testimony to their dedication, discipline, and commitment to the core values of the NCC, and reflects the institution’s sustained efforts in nurturing confident, responsible, and globally conscious youth leaders.
