PANCHKULA, 30.12.25-The Bharat Boudh IKS book series, a major national academic initiative aimed at reviving and integrating Bharatiya Knowledge Systems (Indian Knowledge Systems – IKS) into mainstream higher education, was formally inaugurated at the Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute of Fiscal Management (SJHIFM), Panchkula.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri. Mahipal Dhanda, Hon’ble Education Minister, Haryana, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that India’s traditional knowledge systems provide a strong intellectual and ethical foundation for holistic education and must be meaningfully integrated into modern curricula to prepare socially responsible and culturally rooted citizens.
Prof. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council and Rashtriya Adhyaksh, Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS), said that the Bharat BoudhIKS books have been developed as an important academic resource for higher education.
“The Bharat BoudhIKS book series will serve as an important reference and structured study material for students and teachers in higher education. These books will also form the core syllabus for the Bharat BoudhIKS National Examination on Indian Knowledge Systems, scheduled to be held on 31 January and 01 February 2026. Through this initiative, we aim to nurture intellectual curiosity, cultural pride, and holistic academic development among the youth,” he said.
The function was presided over by Dr. Raj Nehru, OSD to the Chief Minister, Haryana, and Director General, Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute of Fiscal Management, who highlighted the responsibility of academic institutions in preserving and transmitting India’s knowledge traditions in a contemporary and research-oriented framework. S. Narayanan, Director General Higher Education, Haryana, stated that initiatives related to Indian Knowledge Systems are gaining increasing importance under national education reforms and accreditation frameworks, and such programmes will significantly enhance institutional academic quality.
Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Adhyaksh, VBUSS Haryana Prant and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, elaborated on the Bharat BoudhIKS programme and the forthcoming national-level examination, which is expected to witness wide participation from universities and colleges across the country. The programme was attended by Vice-Chancellors and senior representatives from several state and private universities of Haryana, including Kurukshetra University, Guru Jambheshwar University, Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, and Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University.
Published by Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan in both Hindi and English, the Bharat BoudhIKS books cover diverse disciplines of Bharatiya Knowledge Systems and are expected to become key reference materials for students, faculty members, and institutional libraries nationwide.
The inauguration marked a significant step towards mainstreaming Indian Knowledge Systems in higher education and strengthening academic and cultural consciousness among the youth.
