Expert Lecture on Generative AI organised at CUH
A special lecture on the topic “Understanding Generative AI Use in Research and Education: Ethical and Practical Framework” was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh for the benefit of research scholars. The lecture was conducted through online mode, and students and research scholars participated in the session. The objective of the lecture was to familiarize scholars with the practical applications of generative artificial intelligence in research and education, while emphasizing ethical use and academic responsibility.
The programme began with a welcome address and introduction of the resource person by Dr. Amita, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. In her address, she highlighted the growing relevance of generative AI in academic research and higher education and stressed the importance of understanding its ethical and practical framework. She formally introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Jatin Gandhi, Digital Editor, Dainik Jagran, and acknowledged his professional experience in digital journalism and digital content management.
Dr. Pankaj Kumar was also present during the event and encouraged research scholars to actively engage in the session. He emphasized the need for responsible adoption of emerging technologies in academic research.
During the lecture, Mr. Jatin Gandhi explained the concept and applications of generative AI in research and education. He discussed how AI tools can support literature review, content creation, and academic productivity, while also addressing ethical concerns such as plagiarism, data privacy, bias, and academic integrity. The session included practical examples from the digital media industry, which helped scholars relate theoretical concepts to real-world applications.
The lecture was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which research scholars raised questions related to ethical boundaries in using AI for research, originality of scholarly work, citation practices, and the future role of AI in academia. The speaker addressed the queries with clarity and practical insight.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks. Overall, the lecture proved to be informative and beneficial for research scholars, enhancing their understanding of the ethical and responsible use of generative AI in research and education.

CUH faculty Nominated as Member of CAQM
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Bhardwaj, Professor (Adjunct Faculty) in the Department of Chemistry, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, has been nominated as a Member of the Research and Development (R&D) Committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR), under the Government of India, New Delhi. Dr. Bhardwaj expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for this prestigious nomination.
Congratulating Dr. Bhardwaj on his nomination, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, expressed his happiness and stated that environmental conservation has always been a priority for the Central University of Haryana. He highlighted that a Miyawaki forest has been developed over an area of two and a half acres on the University campus, where only eco-friendly plant species have been planted, reflecting the university’s strong commitment towards environmental sustainability.
Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor also congratulated Dr. Bhardwaj on this remarkable achievement and said that this nomination is a matter of great pride for the Central University of Haryana. He added that Dr. Bhardwaj’s inclusion in the CAQM R&D Committee symbolizes a significant contribution to national efforts aimed at improving air quality and safeguarding public health.
Prof. Harish Kumar, Head of the Department of Chemistry, extended his congratulations to Dr. Bhardwaj on this notable accomplishment. On this occasion, Dr. Bhardwaj stated that the Air Quality Index (AQI) has emerged as a very serious issue affecting the health and quality of life of millions of people residing in the National Capital Region. In this context, the role of the R&D Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of CAQM Technical Member Dr. Virendra Sharma, is extremely important. The committee is actively engaged in recommending innovative research initiatives and effective policy measures to control air pollution, as well as playing a crucial role in the effective implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the NCR region.
Dr. Bhardwaj further emphasized the need to focus on sustainable and inclusive development in the present times. He stated that without maintaining a clean environment, it would not be possible to leave a better and healthier future for coming generations.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Rakesh Kumar Bhardwaj has over 35 years of professional experience in the field of environment and has worked for more than nine years on the Yamuna Cleanliness Campaign. He has also visited more than ten European countries in connection with environmental studies and related subjects. Faculty members of the University have congratulated Dr. Bhardwaj on his nomination and wished him success in his new national responsibility.
