Chandigarh, November 25:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today conducted an intensive anti-encroachment drive in Industrial Area Phase-II and Manimajra, Sector-13, as part of its ongoing efforts to keep public spaces obstruction-free and ensure smooth movement for residents.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of Joint Commissioner, Sh. Himanshu Gupta.During the drive, MCC enforcement teams identified several violations, including unauthorized extensions by shopkeepers, roadside encroachments, and illegal occupation of public pathways. As a result of the coordinated action, 55 challans were issued to violators.
Joint Commissioner Sh. Himanshu Gupta expressed strong concern over the rising instances of unauthorized encroachments and emphasized that such practices create inconvenience, traffic obstructions, and safety risks for the public. He issued a stern warning stating, “Municipal Corporation Chandigarh will not tolerate any encroachment on public land. Strict and continuous action will be taken against all violators without exception.”
He further appealed to market associations, traders, vendors, and residents to comply with MC norms and refrain from occupying public spaces illegally. Repeat offenders will face heavier penalties and stricter legal action.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh assures citizens that such enforcement drives will continue across the city to maintain cleanliness, order, and public safety. MCC seeks full cooperation from the public in keeping Chandigarh encroachment-free.
