MAHENDERGARH,25.11.25-Central University of Haryana (CUH) successfully hosted the District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament–2026 on Tuesday. The event was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the University under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. In this Youth Parliament, on the theme ‘50 years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy’, the participants presented their views on the historical perspective, constitutional provisions, civil rights and the role of youth in strengthening democracy. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of CUH graced the programme as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Pavitra Rao, Chairperson, RPS Group of Institutions, attended as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar described the Emergency as a dark chapter in the history of Indian democracy, offering a strong reminder of the significance of freedom of expression and constitutional values. Emphasizing integrity, pride in one’s mother tongue, justice, and sensitivity towards duties along with rights, he urged the youth to actively contribute toward realizing the vision of 'Viksit Bharat'. He also extended gratitude to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for facilitating the organisation of this event at CUH.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pavitra Rao said that such platforms help young people develop analytical thinking, communication skills, and leadership qualities. She highlighted that youth have the potential to drive national transformation. Stressing the importance of intellectual growth through education, she appreciated the objectives of the National Education Policy and encouraged students to pursue teaching and research for society. She also commended the efforts of all participants.
Mr. Nityanand Yadav, District Youth Officer (My Bharat) acquainted the participants with the My Bharat Programme and informed them that selected candidates from this Parliament would move on to the state level, and subsequently to the national level of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Coordinator, NSS Unit, delivered the welcome address. He informed that ten selected participants from this district-level event would represent the university at the state-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, from where they may get an opportunity to advance to the national level.
The event was adjudicated by Dr. Pradeep Singh, Dr. Mukesh Mishra, Dr. Neeraj Karn Singh, Dr. Devender, and Manoj Kumar. Around 40 students participated enthusiastically in the programme. The event also saw active participation from Prof. Renu Yadav, Dean, Student Welfare; Dr. Neelam, Dr. Mukesh Upadhyay, and Dr. Yudhveer. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Neelam.
