Chandigarh, 24.11.25-Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the Chandigarh Traders Association (Regd.) and Member of the Administrator’s Advisory Council, has written to the Hon’ble Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, reiterating the long-pending demand of city traders for permission to construct an additional floor on single-storey booths and bay shops exclusively for storage purposes. Panchhi highlighted the acute shortage of space in the existing market infrastructure.
In his communication, Sh.Panchhi emphasized that small traders operating from 8x16 feet shops are often forced to use verandas and corridors for storage due to inadequate space. Granting permission for a first-floor addition would help eliminate encroachments while promoting smoother, more organized, and efficient market operations.
