Chandigarh, October 15, 2025: As part of the ongoing initiatives under POSHAN Abhiyaan, the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration organized various awareness and community-based activities across different locations in the city. A unique event featuring Tricolor/Rainbow Thaali made up of millet-based food items was organized at Manimajra Town to promote the nutritional value and inclusion of millets in daily diets. Alongside, a Drive for ABHA ID registration was conducted to encourage digital health identification and seamless access to healthcare services.
At Maloya, a PMMVY Camp was held, which included ABHA ID and APAAR ID creation and awareness sessions on early initiation of breastfeeding. These sessions emphasized the importance of timely breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, and digital empowerment for pregnant and lactating women. At Burail, a meeting with mothers of SAM/MAM children was conducted to review the nutritional status of children, counsel mothers on dietary practices, and ensure continuous growth monitoring for early intervention and management.
In addition to these major events, several minor activities were organized across Anganwadi Centres, including lectures on Ayush for well-being, food fortification, Poshan ke Panch Sutre, and right age of marriage; slogan writing competitions on healthy food; ORS demonstrations; and home visits for complementary feeding. Other activities included antenatal checkups, distribution of IFA tablets, handwash demonstrations, lectures on diet during pregnancy and immunization, and promotion of yoga for health. The importance of introducing millets at an early age and ensuring Aadhaar registration was also highlighted.
These activities collectively aimed to raise awareness on nutrition, health, and hygiene, and to promote holistic well-being among women and children under the POSHAN Abhiyaan.
