CHANDIGARH, 28.06.25-Panjab University, Chandigarh today hosted a one-day NSS workshop on “Environment and Viksit Bharat,” at Rajiv Gandhi College Bhawan.
The event, organised by NSS PU and funded by RUSA 2.0, brought together more than 150 attendees including NSS Programme Officers and large number of NSS Volunteers from 28 colleges from Ludhiana, Mukerian, Malout, Hoshiarpur, Moga, Abohar, Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab and 7 from Chandigarh—to strengthen environmental awareness and social commitment among youth. Such workshop was conducted by PU NSS department for the first time for various affiliated colleges situated in Punjab and Chandigarh.
The workshop featured various competitions—Rangoli, Poster Making, Best Out of Waste, Declamation, and Nukkad Natak (Street Play)—designed to engage students creatively with themes of sustainability and responsible citizenship. The creative entries, especially those showcased outside the auditorium, became vibrant symbols of students’ dedication to innovation and environmental care.
A Drug Awareness Rally was also organised to highlight the importance of a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
Dean College Development Council (DCDC), Panjab University, Prof. Ravi Inder Singh delivered an inspiring keynote as Chief Guest. “If we work for ourselves, the benefit is 10%, but if we work for society, the impact multiplies tenfold”, he added.
State NSS Officer (SNO) Mrs. Rupinder Kaur encouraged students to embrace lifelong service to society, reinforcing the core values of NSS.
Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Coordinator of RUSA 2.0, applauded the NSS Coordination Team led by Dr. Parveen Goyal for successfully conducting such a meaningful workshop.
Earlier, NSS Dr. Parveen Goyal welcomed all participants with an encouraging address.
Distinguished guests including Prof. Rajat Sandhir and Dr. Sukhjinder Singh lent their support to the event. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Parveen Goyal, Dr. Sonia Sharma, and Prof. Shankar Sehgal.
In his vote of thanks, Prof. Sehgal expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, NSS Programme Officers, volunteers, and students whose active participation made the workshop impactful—despite it being held during the summer break.
